Its my guitar. Wish you could play it to understand. Its truly special. I tweaked it to my taste, but its flawless. Its my only guitar that is flawless. Have PRS Custom 24, Top-10 wood library, EVH Signature Wolfgang, Fender USA Telecaster, Charvel San Dimas, etc. Those guitars are incredible. After tweaking slightly, this guitar is it,

Funny, I don't hear any mention of replacing the pickups with F spaced? Would an Fspaced pickup NOT have briought the string spacing to within alignment? Not that this would account for the distance, but still.
@StringTechWorkstations
2 жыл бұрын
The string spacing for the pickups was a smaller concern. It was the mis-alignment of the strings' trajectory, to the fingerboard; that was the real problem.

Great video on this setup. Thinking on get FRX also for my Epi LP. But isn't that FR promise "there will be no routing need for setup" means it supposed to be fully plug & play installation? Honestly, I reconsider get FRX after watching this video 😂 Great explanation indeed, especially about adjusting the length of 6th (longer by 6mm) & 1st (longer by 3mm) to compensate intonation. Just curious, this compensation also the same length for strat length 25,5" ? Thank you, really expand knowledge about this 👍🙏

In most instances you wouldn't need to router. This was an exception. With all of the "saddle travel" on a Strat ... short answer .... yes the 6mm / 3mm will work.

The problem with the FXR, is it mounts to the tailpiece, which is not a set standard distance on guitars, and the same brands.

Question: These FRX trems are marketed as 'NO need for routing cavities', but you routed a small recess. Is that necessary?

This "rescue" was shipped up from Texas. I am just sharing via video .... what needed to be done. In the end .... the customer now totally LOVES this guitar. He has a lot of guitars in his collection that are worth a LOT more money. But ( as he states ) this is now his #! go-to guitar.

So, you need to add 6mm to 12 inches? 6mm is 0.2362204724 inches. 12 inches is 304.8 mm. Why use mixed measurements?
@StringTechWorkstations
2 жыл бұрын
I was using a hypothetical string length of 24" divided by 2 = 12" ... for an easy explanation of theoretical string length . The actual scale length on this guitar is 24 5/8" ( LP Scale ) ... it is much simpler to use 3mm and 6mm as an additional length for explanation, for the non-math heads. When I am doing my own calibrations I always switch all scale lengths to metric ... simply because of the division of "10" ... you can easily apply a percentage into the mix. In this case 627mm x .097% = .60819 ( or roughly 6 mm for the 6th string compensation ) 627mm x .047% = .29469 mm ( or 3 mm for the first string compensation ). Cheers CJ \m/ !

The guitar already routed when he received it. I guess the customer don't mind about it. And the 6mm / 3 mm metrics scale really not confusing neither complicated at all, just use the simple converter from inch to mm.

Wow, no wonder Trevor wasn't able to do this, it is pretty complicated for the average Joe. Certainly not something I'd attempt. Why did I see the ring ends of the strings on the headstock tuners? Is that a Floyd Rose thing?

You are correct. It is my guitar. So freaking happy with it. FRX is for a flat bodied guitar, not a high arched guitar. I bought the Eastman so I could experiment. Glad I did. It has its own vibe that is awesome. As far as strings, it works running them backwards and no sharp anything at the neck. Sometimes I do that. Sometimes I just cut them.

If you hava a guitar with a flat surface, the FRX is great. If its curved/arched, choose another guitar. BTW: that is my guitar and I love it, but you see it was a lot of work to get it right.

That bridge wasn't very well thought out if it doesn't line up.. I looks cool but that doesn't mean anything.. It's designed for a les paul but it doesn't fit.. Most people won't plug and move everything to make it work..

Once again ... as mentioned previously; the customer attempted to do the job ... then shipped it to me; once he realized that it was a bit too much for him to handle. I rectified the discrepancies, doing what was needed to bring it up to 100%. Because of the variations in Les Paul neck-set angles; there are instances where some routing is required ( as stated in the bridge "owners manual" ).

It's a good idea but routing into the guitar even that little bit is the thing you want to avoid. And so many minor adjustments left and right front and back, considering that peg system is pretty standard it should be a better fit Out of the Box. I guess if you actually use the bar enough it is worth it, but for the price, a nice Squire Strat as a second Guitar is probably a better option if you really want a whammy bar. Nice Dr's Chair there for the Guitars 4:26

Its my guitar. I bought an Eastman so I could experiment. It was not useable when I sent it. Routing is exactly what it needed. I did tweak it after I got it back, but its flawless now and my favorite guitar. Can't tell you how awesome the FRX is. Has all great qualities of traditional Floyd and more. Best quality: can do double stops perfectly in floating mode. Its more subtle. Love it. Couldn't pry this guitar from my fingers is all I need to say.
