This comparison did not seem very fair to the Fluke i410 as you were using a 25+ year old multimeter with unknown calibration history to read the voltage output.

Thanks for the comment. Comparison was done to see what am I exactly working with before testing accuracy of 2 other shunts. Think of it as base line reading. I have already tested (video coming soon) one of the shunts and Fluke combo works really well. The cheap one was way off in my mind and Klein showed almost exact same number as Fluke at 200A

Good video. For any people watching this. Since he has all meters in series, the amperage is going to drop after each measurement by about .03 according to this video. I'm an engineer and I want one for home use. All of these are accurate and can read DC current. That MK06 only measures up to 400A DC and AC amperage, but it cannot measure True RMS for AC. The others go to 600A (I think) and read DC and AC trueRMS. Good luck.

wait mk06 is not accurrate because it does not measure true RMS like fluke, fluke is correct, power supply is bollocks like most power supplies they dont deliver 100% what they display, mk06 uses average calculation probably the same as the power supply so its not the real current

This comment makes a good point. For any newbies --- this comment is for measuring AC. Most of time when you buy these types of ammeters for AMP reading, you want to measure DC (like for your car) or for computer repairs and other peripheral repairs because they use DC power (after the AC to DC adapter). If you're in the trades like Electricity Power Company and/or HVAC, then get the stuff that does AC (better). Fluke is the most trusted in the USA because they make sure measurements are accurate across multiple disciplines/applications like if you're in the jitter of a cockpit, under a house, or on a pole. AC is more dangerous because of the high voltages of 120 and 240. Sometimes AC systems go 600V and more. But if you're on a workbench and you just need 12V or 24V DC Amp measurements, then go cheapest for the DC Amp feature. I have a ammeter for AC amperage and another for DC amperage. Many (cheap) DC amp meters use Average Volt/Amperage when measuring AC instead of the True RMS (root squared mean) amperage. If you know what I mean. P.S. Trademen like to talk terse and leave out details that'll get you killed. Know the difference between AC and DC and how to fight the electric demon. You won't believe how many people I know that work as pole climbers that only work with AC, but are idiots when dealing with DC. They get stuff confused every time while trying to give and take commands across all the applications. My dad worked for the (AC) Electric company for 35 years and was making 100_000+ salary. He's a dumb-a55 with the DC knowledge. I know for at least my first 20 years on earth, my dad thought batteries with a 12.1 Voltage were still in good health; he knew nothing or never measured the Amperage. He mistakenly applies AC logic to DC and gets it mixed up. When I was a boy, I would have to ask him more questions because I knew he was getting some details screwed up (even though he was the supervisor for the electric company). I say this because the majority of Tradesmen are like that; missing details. The smart ones usually start their own business because after about 1 year of being with the dumb ones, they realize they're better than them. Don't get killed or shocked by smoother brains. They'll get you killed. Always run questions by them, because they tend to leave out important steps. HVAC guys, most of the time, know the difference. Electric company guys usually don't know the difference, because they're trained only in AC and they use slang when talking about electricity like leg, ground, neutral, and all the other "mambo jumbo" word soup non-sense that don't have distinct definitions; they don't know the true difference between Neutral and Ground (or Earth). You pay high price in Fluke because they do calibration as part of your purchase. For high voltage jobs above 270 voltage. Get a Fluke.

All the tools are well within an acceptable margin of error. A much better review would do more than test minor wobble in the readings. When I'm crawling around in my boat working with 12 volts DC and 200+ amps of current, I need to know the tool will physically hold up and never fail to warn me when current is flowing. No way I trust a $40 tool over the $150 Klein. You seem very knowledgeable about these things, please do another review going into all facets that matter, not the minor variances in current flow which make no difference in practical work.

Hi, I stumbled upon your interesting comparison because I gambled on the MK06 clamp meter because I want to have a "fairly accurate" DC amp clamp for measuring the DC currents drawn up to 400 amps through a very thick cable running from my 12 volts lithium iron phosphate battery array (so far 4x 12v 100 Ah setup in parallel) to a low frequency (ringcore transformer) power inverter of 3000 Watts nominal output. For that inverter to be able to supply 3000 Watts it must be able to draw about 250 amps over the cable at 12 volts. I also have a Victron MPPT solarpanel charger (to said battery bank) with some garden based solarpanels. So that is my main application for geting a clamp meter, to measure and verify DC amps through the cables coming from the solarpanels and from the battery bank. If it is not too much to ask, could you give me your opinion on just keeping it with the MK06 clamp or are there reasons why I should pursue a much more accurate but also more expensive Amprobe, Klein, Fluke or similar clamp meters with extra functions like inrush current etcetera or is the MK06, in spite of it's low price and some mixed reviews from people on Amazon actually spot on for my needs ? I am a total newbie when it comes to clamp meters, but I know what to do with a multimeter at least. Thanks so much for any reply you could spare me ! Cheers, Marc

I will keep the Klein device in mind of course, but meanwhile I have received the MK06 from Amazon and have had a few chances to do measurements and I got to say, the Meterk does not disappoint (at least for my purposes) and the price I paid is ridiculous at about 18 dollars something..

@@DMIINC2013 ya way to set the amperage display to vary the reading to a known amount. Many charge controllers allow the reading to be adjusted I just wondered can the tool be calibrated which may be a better word.

@@DMIINC2013 just looking around and google gave me this I have never tried I just work with the difference. How to Calibrate an Ammeter Connect the two terminals of the voltage source to either side of the 1 kOhm resistor. Video of the Day. Connect the two terminals of the ammeter across the resistor, or in parallel. ... Switch on the voltage supply, and set it to 1 V. Calculate the expected value of current using Ohm's law.

Nīče video. But for better comparison you need to add one more multimeter measuring ampers in series. This could be more precise. And you could compare all measurements to that one. Now we do not know which one is more correct.

Hello, I have a question, I noticed that when my clampmeter i410 is turned off, the battery voltage appears at the terminals is about 9v but after turning it on it returns to ok is it a problem with my clamp meter or everyone has it

My power supply like that one seems accurate at low voltage but drifts at higher voltage. It is all the same problem as they are all relative ie amps, volts, ohms,

@@DMIINC2013 Hi, Join the red and green leads solid jaws together, On continuity press the Zero button, The meter bleeps then press the Test button, this will zero the metre, release leads and carry out tests. Then check the resistance of the Ik resister this should tell you how accurate the meter is.
