Great reviews, felt like a KZitem masterclass! I was wondering, would you make a video showing your whole woodwind collection? All those flutes in the background make me curious!

Oooh! Gonna remember the “hawaï” breathing. Great video :-) ! I’ll try sending a short clip instead of the complete video of me playing instead of the complete one from my channel. Or can you take an excerpt from it… It’s nice to hear advice to others :-)! Greets from Belgium.

Great video! I’m fourteen and have been playing for a while (almost 7 years), but I can’t seem to play staccato while maintaining a good and clear tone. What can I do!? Should I use double to tongue or is there anything else I can do. Is there something wrong with the placing of my tongue or my jaw or lips do you think?

I’ll give you some advice, but would advise you to find a teacher that can see you in person, if even for a single lesson or two. Often, we get a good tone with the tongue very high in our mouth, it speeds up the air and helps us get the second and higher octaves, but is not in the long run a good technique. When we start tonguing fast, the tongue can’t stay high so we loose that help with our tone. I hear that as quick tongued notes that drop pitch or a whole octave. I’ld advise to start playing long notes and make sure your tongue is low from tip to throat. Don’t worry about tonguing fast. Once you can play the long notes with low tongue, and clear throat, try to slowly introduce repeated tonguing on those notes. Start at slow quarter notes, a week later eighths. Double tonguing won’t help until single tonguing is easy, and rings like a bell. As encouragement, you have heard your problem and sought advice, not all students can do that. This is a very good sign of yourself learning abilities, something all the musicians I know are capable of. Best luck with music, DAC.

Hi, I'm looking for a new flute with open holes. Now I have a beginner flute with closed holes. Do you have any advice (which flute is good for an intermediate flutist like me)?

I would be sure to rinse your mouth and maybe even brush your teeth before practicing. Especially if you just ate or when drinking something sugary. I'm not sure what else it could be.
