Dart is getting better, but still not even close to Kotlin. I miss it so much, but the Flutter SDK is worth the pain.

That is true Kotlin has some fantastic additions and I am glad that Dart learns from the other languages. But to change a major SDK is hard so it will take some years to get feature parity with Kotlin I guess :). But there is development which is a great thing.

What does "9am CST" mean? It can't be US Central Standard Time, as we won't have that until November.

but serverpod not support manage roles and relations like prisma and need to more edit with sql I think that it is currently unstable and needs a lot of work because it has not reached the end point of the others yet, so I think Prisma with a dart frog or Shelf is the best choice now

What you think about Compose UI? Is it a real opponent for Flutter?
@FlutterExplained
Жыл бұрын
Yes absolutely, it has some very smart solutions and if you compare the code size it is way less verbose which is already a plus.

This feels like a lot of the recent additions to java have been added to flutter haha

Great video! I heard somewhere that serverpod is not easily testable, do you have a comment on that?
@FlutterExplained

Great question, after a short look into the repository there are a lot of dependencies flying around. Which is still manageable but it will require a tad more effort probably to create Mocks for all the different things. I will try to find some time to dig a bit deeper maybe it is quite a good video idea :)

Does serverpod work on windows , because i tried it before it was hell , even it gives a vibe of strong very string backend , i started lately laravel do you recommand me to switch to serverpod ?
@FlutterExplained
Жыл бұрын
Hi there, I will have to try it myself. I work at the moment mostly on mac but most of it runs in a docker container so I am a bit confused how it would make a real difference between the machines. If you are familiar now with laravel and it works for your usecase I would not recommend to switch back directly. It can be an option if you want to start a new full stack project, but even there make sure you take the time because it has a lot inside of it and the learning curve can be very steep.

Why don’t use appwrite , easy and free
@FlutterExplained
Жыл бұрын
I believe that appwrite has a different use case as Serverpod. Serverpod allows you to host a complete own server. While AppWrite is more a whole platform and gives you slightly less flexiblility.
