I've replaced all my lights with Fluval lights. They are expensive but so worth it. The latest version of the app allows you to set up super custom scenes. My tanks come on in the morning for an hour or so I can feed the fish. Then I have them dim way down until early evening. As the evening progresses the lights slowly start to dim to a deep blue and then finally off around midnight. Super configurable.

I got a fluval plant 3.0 over my 40 breeder. I setup this tank as a high tech planted, and the 3.0 just seemed like the right choice. My only issue with this light over my 18” wide tank is that it sits too low to cover every plant in light. Bought the fluval suspension kit and it is amazing! The “pro” settings on the app are absolutely incredible! Next time I need a great light, I will buy the 3.0 again and not regret it!

Thanks so much for the video. I also have a 125 gallon tank, so will need 2 of the 36" lights to fully cover the tanks. I have a couple of questions that pertain to water changes. I know that there are some aquarists that are set up to do their water changes automatically. I’ve seen some of the different ways (one guy twists some handles or knobs to start the water changes and a different guy has a digital item that he sets which day to do the water change to which tank, how much water to remove, etc.). Two questions for you: 1. Can you do just water changes only (automatically or manually) without suctioning from the bottom of the tank? 2. When people are adding water back to the tank (when done automatically) are they not adding in the chlorine killer? I don’t see this happening in their video. Or, is this done automatically too? You have to add this to any water that goes in to the tank, correct? I hope you do a video to address this topic! Thank you!
@PrimeTimeAquatics
5 жыл бұрын
Very good questions! 1) Many people do not gravel vac, especially with planted tanks. If they are more heavily stocked and detritus starts to accumulate it's still a good idea to remove the stuff from the bottom once in a while. 2) Yes, if the water is from a municipal source that adds chlorine they are adding dechlorinator at some point before or during the refill process.

I been using two finnex Stingray 2 plant leds for over two years. While these lights are working great for my plants I recently had a hair algae bloom, due to my father leaving the two leds on for over the 12 hour recommendation. I was able resolve the issue by switching over to moonlight in the evening. I am concerned that I may be running into the same algae issue if my father forgets, the strict lighting schedule and leaves the main lights on in the evening. or he even forgets to turn off the moonlights sometimes at night. Should I swap out my current two lights for fluval 3.0 for its ease of use and the day night cycle features?

This light is fully adjustable in regard to intensity, light duration and color spectrum. You should be able to dial it in exactly how you want it.

I have the Fluval Plant 3.0 and turn down the warm white LEDs to avoid the yellow hue in the evenings and turn it up during the morning to simulate sunlight. Depending on the size of the light, 14-22% of the LEDs are warm white. So if you don't need full power, then you can set warm whites to 0, but if you need more power then it may be better to look into RGB LED lights.

I’ve got the aquasky 48 and I’m happy with it, but I added more plants and CO2 recently and I’m looking at what the 3.0 will due for me and if it’s worth upgrading... the sky isn’t really able to adjust colors, only the brightness, if you set it to different colors it’s so dim it’s useless. I do love the day night automated cycle. I don’t care for the thunderstorm effect. I want my tank to grow plants and look natural... still not sure if it’s worth the upgrade especially since I’ve only had the sky for a few months... I think I’ll get the 3,0 at some point since I’m already invested in a decent CO2 setup....

The nice thing about the 3.0s is they are adjustable so if you ever get higher light plants they will be more than adequate. If you want something cheaper you could go with the Aquasky. If you want to look at other brands the Finnex Stingray II and Hygger lights are also worth looking at.

@@PrimeTimeAquatics would I have to purchase two 36 inch or is there a 72” lamp available?

A 50% reliability factor does not sound all that "great" to me.

I agree, but I really think the boxes got knocked around during shipping. I do a lot of research concerning customer reviews before I post review videos, and there are not an unusual number of people complaining about quality issues.

I think it's because it's a long & light frame that's made to be lightweight. I didn't have any issues with the shorter version of this light.
