That's great to hear and good to have you - hope fly fishing is good to you. :) Trout don't like to be lifted from the depths so it's always far easier to avoid them dogging you down by bringing them laterally. That plus given how light the tippet/leader can be it's best to keep lateral pressure and not induce sudden dogging to the bottom movement from the fish. Hope that helps.

Do you guys carry bear spray ? Ever have any bear encounter's, I have had a number along creeks along the eastern slopes, all Grizzlies. Spitting distance with a couple but that's over 40 years. Its exciting and always makes for a good story. In the early years there was no such thing as bear spray and we, my father and I, carried a short pump shot gun. Never had to use it. My father said as long as you can out run me you are ok :).

We don't actually run into them too often as we're always making noise in prime habitat. We do carry bear spray but more importantly we carry an air horn to really blast if needed.

@@jaylevine3701 Here's hoping things open up by then. I suspect Sept will be an "ish" target given we're at 2.7% vaccination up here compared to your 13% today.
