Thanks for the information on the use of indicators and the "why" behind choosing from the different types. Great video, you and Ben crack me up and those fish were beautiful.

Another great video, Jacob. You have a knack for explaining (and showing) techniques in a clear and accessible manner. Now, let me ask you three questions: 1. If the run you were fishing in the first part of the video were more like four feet, and if you had to catch a lot of fish, would you choose a Euro or a bobber method? 2. When you bobber fish, do you tend to attach your flies in-line as opposed to using dropper tags? If so, why? 3. Have you ever tried a drop shot (or, with a bobber, a bounce) rig?

The first run if I had to choose I would definitely lean more towards a suspension rig, wether that be an indicator or dry dropper if I was in a competition setting and couldn’t use an indicator, long slower runs even if they’re not to deep are sometimes best fished with a dry dropper or some sort of indicator rig! Usually when I run a bobber rig I do tend to run flies in a tandem rig instead of using dropper tags, mostly so it doesn’t cause as many tangles with the indicator if a fish is missed or something happens in casting And I have used drop shot rigs before, they work extremely well but do tend to throw the weight of the rig off balance with a bobber rig and can sometimes cause more tangles, with a drop shot you definitely have to have a more open loop cast

Great video and finer techniques to indicator nymphing! Wanted to ask if you use weighted flys or unweighted, and if you use regular splitshot (lesd) or tin slitshot? Just wanted to vet an idea on what your preference was? Thanks! Really enjoyed this!

Thank you! So I tend to use non beaded flies or brass beaded flies with split shot usually use lead shot if I can, I usually don’t run tungsten with indicator rigs since I’m already using added split shot for weight

Love the content, guys! Especially the newer tips and tricks stuff - keep it coming! Really hoping you guys could go into more detail on the best time to use the indicator. We obviously all know how effective euro nymphing is...but why is it more effective to indicator nymph a slower pool than tight line? Is it how convincing your presentation becomes, easier to cause too much movement in the nymph when tightlining? I have to fish the slowest deepest pools here in Michigan during winter. Take care! I like to fish indicators in slow deep water mostly because the fish are usually not right on the bottom if the water is slow and deeper than 6-7 feet. A lot of times they’re somewhat suspended and having an indicator or dry dropper really allows you to get the best longest drift possible in those conditions

How do you decide where to put your indicator on the leader? 1.5 times the depth of the water? Also are you measuring from top fly to indicator or the bottom dropped fly to indicator?
