Was there myself yesterday, was my 3rd time there, not having much luck first 2 times as I found it such a big water. But yesterday has me wanting to go back for more. Lost 6, had 9 to the net with 2 of them being browns all taken to a team of 3 buzzers. Can't wait to go back but know I may not have such a good day but the more I go the more I'll learn about how to fish the place. As you say the staff are great there and if you don't watch out you could spend most of your day in the lodge talking to them and having a good laugh. Top venue and would say anyone should try it

Glad you had such a good day Kevin. The best way to learn the water is on a drifting boat. Treat each bay as a little fishery and don't be daunted by the size of the place.

Love this video; have fished Rutland about 10 times myself and had everything from 0 to 25 plus! That’s fishing for you. Must agree that getting advice from the rangers and guides is absolutely essential, and as you say they are always willing to help you out. It’s obvious that your mate is a much better angler than you it’s just that he likes to remain nicely smug and quiet whilst you blather on😜! Keep the videos coming as we all love them so much. Cheers, English Dave

Nice video Lindsay. I was impressed with the aerial shots. I take it that was your new toy doing that, but I couldn't see who was operating it. You and Ian were both fishing from the boat so I think you've had a helping hand. You both seem to have had a great time on Rutland, its a place I have never been. Looks a bit too busy for my liking though. Thanks for the tips. 🎣👏👍

Rutland continues to be the Mecca for us fluff chuckers and you certainly showed us how it's done.. Can I ask if you are using a stepped down leader for your straight through buzzer set up or the same breaking strain through to the point fly. What's the lowest breaking strain you go to for Rutland.
@lindsayiflyfish
3 жыл бұрын
Hi Mike, Up until last year I would usually use 8.5lb and be very confident of landing fish. The last couple of seasons though I have not been below 10lb. I just use the leader straight through tippet from the boat.

Some months back I walked round Rutland water to watch the lads fish from the boats. Which was spoiled by the smell of curry which stank everywhere. Won't go back again.
