Thank you for a great video...I live in PA and have always been skittish going out without a guide as i suffer from knotphobia

Very underrated channel, I just got a fly rod and this is the first time I have ever seen a diagram of how to set up nymphs and also dry's on the other video. Great videos

What’s your opinion on late fall trout fishing and the best style to fish?, nymph or dry
@Drifthook
Жыл бұрын
Hi Anthony, I like to approach the water and let it tell me how I should be fishing. I love dry fly fishing, but I love catching more. I will start with nymphs if I do not see any action on the surface, heads, backs, or tails. As the day warms up and If I see any surface action or hatches, I will typically switch over to dries. Hope this helps, and thanks for watching.

Hello Veracious Reasoning, we are in the process of creating new content and I think a winter fly fishing video would be great. I will add it to our content calendar. Thanks for watching.

So, with a nymph rig, you still use a floating wf fly line right? And is your leader still floating with just the tippet under water? Thanks!!
@Drifthook

Yes I use a floating Ed fly line. And everything below the indicator sinks under the water. Leader, tippet and flies. To get your flies into the feeding zone which is the bottom of the river to one foot above, add weight as needed. If you start snagging the bottom remove weight to find the perfect balance.

I'm new to fly fishing after been coarse fishing all my life, I only recently got a 5weight Rod, some flies dries, wets and nymphs,but I am not sold on indicators especially in low water,I think they scare every trout around,I'm going this evening to try nymph fish I ain't got indicators I might miss a couple of bites,but Ive little faith in this indicators although I do see lot of people using them,maybe in deeper water you might get away with them but not in 2 or 3 foot of water,it's just imo but what I would know as I only taking it up now.

Hi Ray, if you are fishing in 2 to 3 feet of water, especially clear water you might want to try a Dorsey indicator or a yarn indicator. They land softly on the water but still give you a visual clue when drifting the nymphs. I have also fished with sighter material that is just a bright section of line that you can place in your rig as a visual cue for strikes. Good luck out there and we hope you catch the big one!

If I’m fishing still water do I let it just sit there or create some action?
@Drifthook
3 жыл бұрын
Hi Lewi, if you are fly fishing still waters there will have to be some movement. If you are fishing nymphs and the water has heavy chop, most of the movement will happen from the water, if the water is calm check out this article on the retrieve rate for different patterns - drifthook.com/blogs/discover/how-long-should-a-leader-be
