Yay, more 18th century mens sewing content!! Earlier 18th century menswear is so underrepresented. They look lovely, and very comfortable for summer, and the lighting in a lot of these shots is really pretty. I can definitely hear the difference in your voice now! I liked how simple the fly was when I did my 1730's breeches last year, so much easier than modern fly closures.

Thank you so much! Ngl the fly stressed me out, I hated that it was a bit harder to document than fall fronts

@@pinsandweevils ugh, yes it's SO much harder to find resources for early 18th century menswear! So much of my 1730's research was just zooming in on a lot of museum pictures, and trying to guess and work backwards from that 60's suit in Costume Close Up.

Your videos single handedly will be the basis for my femme Stede Bonnet this summer! I love how concise and well spoken you are with your tutorials! Like you, I’m probably going to swing toward using linen over silk (though the character would most certainly lean silk over linen) for my first pair of breeches. The idea of silk pants just absolutely terrifies me for some reason. That and the fact that linen will wash easier. I can always upgrade later!! Hopefully mine turn out half as good as yours!

Current favourites include Pergolesi's stabat mater and Bach's oratorios for 18th century; my favourite 19th century composer is fauré (the requiem is to die for, pun intended, and everything he wrote for cello is just so beautiful)

Oh, I feel you, dysphoria can make pattern drafting and fitting a bit rough. Still, it’s a great skill-especially for trans people, I think, since finding commercial patterns that fit right can be tough and drafting your own stuff gives you a lot of control over the final lines and silhouette!
