Good morning Matt. As I’ve said before there’s something about those streamers and I’ve tried tying a few different ones. It seems like the wings are usually the toughest part. I used to tear them apart if they didn’t turn out decent but I stopped doing that after hearing that the fish don’t seem to care and you just put them in your fly box and fish them. That dispels the myth that a school of fish scores them as they float by. 🙄 Definitely need more coffee. Take care Matt. Have a good weekend.

Holographic tinsel helps hide imperfections, alrighty. Now can I buy that by the case? To me, again I think you have tied another one that needs to be thrown at these Chippewa River Smallmouth. Love the colors. I’ve always had good success with those in the late Summer and Fall. Thanks for the super glue tip with the tinsel. Cool looking Streamer buddy. Keep em coming. Good Evening Sir Matt, I saw the vid this morning, but it's been a really busy day for me. It's 9 pm central time and I just seen the video a second time. I have golden pheasant Tippets and the only orange stuff I have is orange Bucktail, now if you want to talk red I have dyed Red Pheasant Tippets, red holographic tinsel, a lot of red stuff. Feathers and Bucktail, I might experiment I'll let you know how it comes out and even email you some pictures. Have a great weekend Sir.

That's a nice looking pattern Matt. I have a small paper back by RH Brown, I think it's his journals and fishing methods, haven't looked at it in years. So I looked for the GG in Shewey's Classic Steelhead Flies and yes it is a beautiful elegant pattern. But what caught my eye and rang a bell was James Lingren's Flys of BC. I'm aware of ART Lingren's Totem Fly Fishers 50th Anniversary book that Piscator turned me on to in a review he did about 4 years ago. It's a collection of great patterns by the club, of which RHB was a member. Art has a fly in Shewey's book - (lots of references of the Governor patterns too :o) Art was an iconic BC tier according to Darren (Piscator). I'm interested in James Lingren's Flies of BC, I wonder if he's related to Art, possibly Art's son. So have you done a review of James L's Flies of BC and when did you get it? Thanks again Matt. Sorry Matt, I just found out James is Art's middle name! I swear I only saw Arthur when you held up the book :o/ I still want to find out about the book, so thanks again.

Joe- dang you... mentioning all these books I don't have! This Fly Patterns of BC, RHB Centennial is the only one I have by Lingren: amzn.to/3vL5uSo. I can't remember when I picked up this book, probably last year, but I haven't reviewed it yet. But... I just checked out Shewey's book you mentioned. It looks amazing, so of course I just ordered it. I'll tie a few from it and then see about doing a review. Thanks for the note!

@@SavageFlies Well pardon me... LOL! Thanks Matt, yeah Shewey's books are great, so is his tying. I have the "Steelhead Flies" and "Classic Steelhead Flies". He has another on Dee and/or Spey flies that's out of print :o( Thanks for the Lingren link, best promotion of the book I've seen, I'll likely get it. There's a video floating around on Friday Night Flies or Brad Knowels channel of Lingren tying one of his flies. Thanks again Matt!!!

I've only used this as a streamer, just short strips on the retrieve. Like any baitfish pattern. I've had several good days with it over the last few years and can't remember for sure, but I know my last one was last year, late winter or early spring. Probably March or so. I wouldn't hesitate to try it in the middle of the summer though. And I can't tell if the fish think it's a rainbow or brown fry, or is the orange just a trigger. Probably the latter but who knows!
