Great vid Mak - how economical is that 😀😀👍. It makes me realise how much we pay for so little from fly shops. You tie some awesome flies and your attention to detail and quality is really impressive.

Very nice Mak - thanks for sharing! The coffee grinder is great for blending dubbing - my wife had a nice one (she hasn't noticed it missing yet so I guess that it is mine now :-) ). Like you, I cut and blend the large "loose" yarns but for the smaller diameter, tighter spun yarns I use a pair of "dog grooming brushes" to "card" the fibers (to break apart the bundles) before blending. Because I frequently use dubbing loops I tend to cut my yarn into 1 to 1 1/2 inch lengths; with the longer fibers it is usually necessary (depends on the yarn) to card the pieces before blending or they will "pill" up. I always check the translucency, sparkle and color of my blends by putting a loose wad of the fibers in a glass of water and looking at it outside in natural light. Wet-testing gives me an idea of how it will look on the fly. Find that mixing natural fur and acrylic fibers can make a nice dubbing as well. My favorite is a blend of 90% beaver underfur with 10% short (3/8 to 1/2 inch) acrylic for creating a good body silhouette with a little fuzziness. For nymphs I like a 50-50 blend of grey squirrel (underfur and guard hairs) with a black or dark brown synthetic (something with a bit if sparkle to it) to make the thorax. Works well for me. Have a great day Mak! ATB. Hank

@@Makflies I mix a lot of natural with synthetic. I love the variety of colors you can get with the yarn. Then I use a lot of white rabbit that I will color to match my yarn. It makes some great really buggy dubbing.

@@edincusto4795 Basically you can make all sorts of Patterns with that for etc ( Nymphs , Emerger , Bugs ) , you can search on KZitem & you will find lots of different patterns, I don't use Fox fur, but I don't think it's any different than Rabbit & Squirrel :)
