Great success today on my club water, brown trout reservoir fishing. Plenty moving, tried suspender buzzers, CDC not getting much attention then put on my freshly tied nothing flies and me and my buddy both took 8 each over rest of the session along with many more missed takes!! Brilliant fly. Had both plain and hot butt version both doing the damage

Hello My friend, It's very kind of you to show us this fly after all the success you've had with it. I tie my own flies, too, often trying my own designs. It's so pleasing when they are successful. I use a bluebottle green type chenille with black, similar to your peacock herl. It's surprising how much trout love that bluebottle green with black. I make beetles in a similar way, and the trout love them. Thank you, Ian.

@alecharveyfishingandflytying Hello Alec, Thank you for your reply, it's great to hear from you. I'm glad you've had replies from all over the world. That's great. I used to fly fish a lot, going to North Wales twice a year, to fly fish the Llyns, mainly Brenig. I absolutely loved it. I'd take my fly tying kit so I could tie anything I needed while I was there, depending on what was hatching and knocking about. I lost my father in 2017, and my life changed. I have fished since, though I've just lost my way with it all, a little. I tie sometimes for other people if I know they're going fishing. I enjoyed watching you tie. I find it very settling. When I was a young boy, I used to stand behind my father and watch him tie. That was how you learned back then. There was no Utube. Best wishes, my friend, Ian.

A chap posted on Facebook about tying your flies on Sunday i think. He got your name wrong calling you Alex. Asking if people thought they would catch I commented the tophats had proved themselves at Draycote and Eyebrook. I never take photos of my fish as I don't lift them out of the water to unhook them and to be honest I am a bit shy of showing my fly tying.

Hi Alec enjoyed tying this fly i am quite a novice but found it relatively easy even for me, two things how would you fish it, and what length is the tail of the fly thank you.
@alecharveyfishingandflytying
5 күн бұрын
Hi Roland , the fly is easy to tie and catches lots of trout , the tail is just a few mm long as I tie them on size 20 and 18 carp hooks . You can fish them casting to rising fish or drift them across the surface, and the fish will come up blind and take them . You can also slowly figure of eight them just subsurface and the fish will readily take them. Check my fishing videos using them, and you will see me using them and catching fish.👍🎣🐟

Hi Steve, yes you fold the areo wing over on its self, this material is your buoyancy for the fly, you then use floatant (gink) or what ever is your preference when fishing it. Keep them in small sizes and you will definitely catch on them, you need light tippet 3 - 4lb if you use to heavy tipped the fish will look at your fly and turn away, good luck👍🎣🐟
