Hi! I used 2 x 6mm marine plywood for the bottom and 2 x 4mm for sides and deck. Side and deck finished off with a layer of 2mm mahogany. No fiberglass used on deck and sides. It was built like a Tank, but it was still possible for two men to lift the hull. Completed with 4,3 V-6 engine it weighed in just under 550 Kg. Heavy fiberglass on bottom, finished off with coppershield. If built today I would use 2 x 4(5)mm and 2 x 3mm.

Hi Normann, beautiful Flyer! Would it be possible to use a Z24 4 cylinder out of a Nissan pickup? I have a perfectly good one I pulled out of a wrecked truck. I've always been a big fan of the "Baby Bootlegger" but the "Flyer" will be a more realistic build for me.

Hi I was just wondering whats the thickness of the three layer plywood planks you used and did you use any reinforced fiber glass or paint layer for the bottom?

Hi! svensons.com has a lot of interesting boatplans, including Flyer. Best of all- they are free to download! Yes- Flyer is a fun boat. You are garanteed to get soaking wet! Flyer has been descibed by many of my friends as a big water toy, and the most fun/ interesting boatride they have experienced!!
