While the information is valuable the audio of the article is quite bad with an excessive amount of background noise. When making a video of this importance the audio quality is exceptionally important, often when the audio is bad the viewer will simply reject the article as it becomes frustrating! Unfortunately, many folks making valuable videos are lacking in audio recording knowledge and wind up producing very poor quality programs. Please review before releasing any video! This is a great video for me, I’m new to my disability and I’m learning the how to. I have to fly several times a year with my power wheelchair, so videos like this are a must for me. Thank you for taking the time to educate us in this so important matter.

I've never encountered such caring staff when I fly. The lady at the end who asked about your cushion really amazed me.

Well done video. Lot of noise at the airport for the interviews. But otherwise well. I'm doing research as I am hoping to head out to Vegas in a Year or maybe a little later once Covid settles down. I have a powerchair. Also, I really liked your pink tires. Take Care

I really have an issue with touch and lint in my pocket gets picked up no joke. Sensory processing and when I get rushed in security I freeze like a deer in the headlights with autism. Getting early boarding can help make life so much better. The fact that I don't have a visible disability and successful has made me feel weird asking for the help.

The nice thing about TSA Cares is that they deal with a wide variety of needs.

Personally, I hook my suitcase on the back with a carabiner then put on my backpack on my back. 😉 only drawback is you have to do wide turns.

MeantToBeLindseyB I have never flipped but my bag has. It’s a pretty easy fix though. I noticed your wheels are cambered a little bit. That may help keep you from flipping. Watching this video was actually really helpful. I always just go through the lines like normal and They always say “we need a male assist” then I get the pat down. Do you fly open cabin or assigned seat?
@MeantToBeLindseyB

Timothy Rodriguez Open cabin but you can get a pre-board pass to get on early.

MeantToBeLindseyB i know. I’m flying southwest on Friday and after I booked, I called and told them I am in a wheelchair and all that fun stuff. I love open cabin airlines because I can get on with my chair and take what I need before they stow it. if I fly assigned seat and get a middle seat in the middle of the section, I gotta pretzel myself into different shapes in order to let the people in the window seat in. That’s just not comfortable at all, as I’m sure you know. Window seats or the front row are the best for me. I actually want to create an airplane that combats the issue of stowing the chair so you can keep it and go use the restroom while on the flight if needed and plus it would make getting on and off so much easier.

5:09 When I fly I Gate Check my stuff. I pack my bags with medical supplies. For example if the airline allows me to carry on (2) Two bags then I will carry those on and then I will make shore everything is TSA allowed so I can put my medical supplies in the different bags I need to take with me so I go through security and when they Gate Check my power chair they can gate check the items and they can place them on my power chair. When I arrive at my destination it all will come back with my $80,000.00 power chair. Yes the airline is very careful and the supervisor is the one that will only touch my chair when I mention how expensive it is. I always make shore that I have some form of medical supply mixed with other things because if it is Medical then the airline cannot charge you for that bag. For example I will but my Laptop with my C-PAP machine because they hate when I mention that it is a $3,000.00 dollar peace of medical equipment and I need it to stay on board with me. My medications go in my carry on bag and my tray that attaches to my char has a bag that is permanently connected to the tray. The tray is usually placed in the flight attendants closet on board the aircraft. Anything attached to your chair is part of your chair. Your Battery Charger is part of your chair so any thing that you want to put in the same bag as your battery charger is a good way to have it stay with your chair. Another thing that I will and have done is create a video on KZitem describing how to take care of my chair and how to operate it. I will have as my name phone number so if there is any problem they can contact me if I am not present at any other part of the flight or maybe I'm on the plane and so they don't have to come up to me to ask a question they can call me before the flight takes off. 24:30 One thing that you need to know is TSA Is NOT Medical Personal. They do not have Medical Training. Many of the tests they do are not medical tests. These tests are only to determine if something is dangerous or could harm people. One thing I don't like is that you have to give 72 hours. If they want PWD's to be treated like everyone else would be treated they need to make this service available on demand, Even know people without disabilities don't need extra help there are PWD's that do need help and because you have a disability shouldn't mean that you have to book in advance for the same service anyone else would get. People With Disabilities want to have the same ability to travel last minute if needed. A PWD already has to deal with more Obstacles that most other people don't have to deal with.

i actually have a question if you would know....so i struggle with hand tremors and it's hard for me to handle plastic cups and it's difficult to just lean my head forward on a plane just to drink out of a straw. not enough space. would it be possible to bring my own plastic water bottle (bc it'd have a safety cap so i cant spill) and ask flight attendants to fill it for me? i'm worried for if i have to go so long without drinking anything just because i wont have extra space to bend down my head nor am i able to hold a cup to my mouth
@MeantToBeLindseyB

Most flights offer in flight drinks. If you bring an empty cup or even get it filled up at the airport, someone should be willing to assist you after you get through security. You could also consider getting an extra long straw, so you don’t have to bend as far.

Hoping to have a holiday this summer with my partner who had a stroke. Uses walking frame at home but wheelchair on travels. Bit anxious for everything to go smoothly. Being male he has the advantage of using a portable urine lidded bottle we can discretely use.

interesting security checking. You would most likely just do a pat down or if you can walk some without them, they would send your crutches through the scanner and you’d go through the regular scanner like everyone else. It really depends on your situation and your ability to walk through the regular scanner without them.

I'm totally blind, and I've flown many times. I hate when airlines put me in a wheelchair, to assist me to my gates. I realize that this method is the fastest way to get me to my gate, however, I refuse to take a wheelchair away from someone who has mobility issues. I'd prefer to be guided using sighted guide, while I walk to my gate. I wish more people could be more open to sighted guide .
@MeantToBeLindseyB

I imagine that is very frustrating. I would honestly feel the same way if I had to use a wheelchair that wasn’t my own. I also hate the aisle chairs and do my best to avoid them at all cost too if possible.
