In my opinion, the reason why Fijians are so good in 7's rugby and tend to produce great rugby wingers are three reason: Genetics, practice, and imitation. You have seen how blank people from Jamaica & Kenya who dominate sports in the Olympics such as running, similarly, Fijians have that natural gene fit for rugby. We have produced wingers that are lean and tall like Isireli Bobo who have similar features as Usain Boult, to that short lighting speed of Rupeni Caucaunibuca that has captivated world rugby with his agility. Second, kids have been learning to goostep at an young age. They have been practicing at their backyard six days a week with their friends. If you take a trip from our airport in Nadi, to our capital in Suva, every villagers you pass, you'll see kids playing touch rugby (a sport that has proven to increase side stepping and offloading abilities) with that, books such as "The 10,000 Hour Rule" gave an term called Deliberate Practice which supports that if people were to spent a total of 10,000 hours on skills that matters in their field, they will produce great quality work or results, which I imply is the phenomenon that young Fijian kids are doing unknowingly.Thirdly, Fijian children love imitating their rugby heroes . If you ever went to a great rugby secondary schools as Ratu Kadavulevu School, Lelean Memorial School, Queen Victoria School etc.. and come across kids play, take a moment to hear them shout names they are imitating. You'll then understand why rugby is like a religion to us and why we continually produce freakish rugby players.
