By strange coincidence the guy you talked to at YAM tower after departure from ANJ in this vid (and some of the time in your Hope Air vid) used to work here. Good guy, tonnes of fun to work with. Always great videos to watch. It's good to watch solid decision making and thought processes in action. You should be mandatory viewing in flight school. Keep up the good work. If you notice the fuel leaking out right before takeoff, that is how the fuel tanks are designed in airplanes. That is a pressure release valve. As the pressure changes air may be expelled or sucked in to the tanks in order to keep pressure standard. When the pressure is released, sometimes a bit of the fuel leaks out.

Glen , enjoy your channel. I have a 1961 172B and would like to upgrade to a alternator and new starter also and would like a little feed back from you. Is your alternator 50 or 70 amps? Did you use Aircraft Spruce ? And are you happy with the products. Thank Vance
@GlensHangar
Жыл бұрын
I put in a 50 amp alternator, and have loads of power to spare (though I also changed all the lights to LED). A lot of the products we put on the plane were ordered from Aircraft Spruce; they always had fast shipping, a wide selection and they shipped from a warehouse in Canada. That last one eased the process for us.

I'm a couple weeks lake but US ATC here! So previously we had a rule where we could shorten foreign registered callsigns to the last 3 but for some reason they recently changed it so we can't. So a few years ago on initial check in I would call you Charlie Foxtrot Mike Victor Uniform and then subsequently "Mike Victor Uniform" but not I have to say the whole thing all the time. Figured you'd be interested in this tidbit
@GlensHangar
Жыл бұрын
That's interesting! I didn't know what the rules were exactly; but you'll notice that the controller at KOSH does shorten my callsign... I guess in the name of expediency?
@BelowMinimums
Жыл бұрын
@@GlensHangar Could be, but also could be old habits/ not knowing the rule changed. I didn't know the rule changed until recently because I was training a new controller and we had an Austrian DA62 (I'm guessing they were ferrying it brand new) and my trainee kept using the entire callsign and I said he could shorten it, but he said no he can't and showed me the rule lol
