Update as of 6/17/22: Delta recently changed their pet policy on their website. It now says that pets can not enter the Republic of Ireland in-cabin. I don’t know if this is just a delta thing or all airlines so I would recommend calling the Irish Embassy

Hi! Loved your video! My husband and I are taking this exact same route with our cat as we are moving to Manchester this September. We were just wondering how you guys went about booking your hotels. We haven't found one that is cat-friendly in Dublin yet. I've tried booking hotels that have stated that they are pet friendly, but they're really just dog-friendly. Even the one you guys stay at, state on their website that they don't allow cats. Did you guys just book a pet-friendly room and arrive with Ted? Or did you exchange emails with every hotel beforehand, notifying that you had a cat?

Hello, does Delta fly from Dublin to U.S with cat in cabin? And where did you rent in Dublin?
@clowderlibrary

Hotel details are in the description box. Last I checked you can’t fly back into the US with a pet in cabin. For going back to the US we’re flying with our cat out of Paris.

Hey @clowder library ! Thanks for sharing your story. Did Delta add your cat to your reservation with email confirmation? Delta's agent told me no confirmation would be sent to me but he can assure me my cat is added to my trip. Did that happen to you?
@clowderlibrary

They didn’t send me an email confirmation which I think is odd. I called a week before and the the day before my flight to reconfirm because I was paranoid that my cat wouldn’t be on my trip.

I thought pets couldn't fly in cabin to Ireland. Did that change?

We called the airline and the Irish Embassy multiple times before we booked the flight. I know you can't fly into Northern Ireland with a pet (since it's part of the UK) but we had no issues going into Dublin. I recently saw on Delta's website that pets are now not allowed to fly in-cabin into the Republic of Ireland--but my husband called them (literally this morning because we might have to go back to the US) and they told us pets are still allowed in-cabin soooo I don't know what's up with the conflicting information. My advice is contact the embassy and your airline when you're booking and then call them again a week before you go to reconfirm.

@@clowderlibrary oh wow. Thanks for the insight! Hope they will still allow it. It's already so stressful to travel long distance, i couldn't imagine them being in cargo.

Are dogs allowed to fly in cabin with you from the US to the UK?
@clowderlibrary
Жыл бұрын
If you want your dog in cabin with you have to enter the UK via another country. I believe Dublin has since changed their rules and this is no longer allowed so I’d recommend flying into Paris or Amsterdam then taking a ferry/train. The only animals entering the UK that can be in cabin are service animals. And on any flight with an animal there’s a size restriction. They have to be able to fit in a carrier beneath the seat in front of you. Hope this helps!

@@clowderlibrary Thanks. He’s only a 13lbs Pomeranian so he he should underneath a seat. I guess I’ll have to fly into Paris first. Could I fly from the UK back to the US in cabin or would I have to do the same and go back to Paris and fly from there?
@clowderlibrary
Жыл бұрын
@@victorowyang2695 outgoing flights also don’t allow pets which is annoying. We just came back to the states and we flew out of Paris. We took the train to Folkestone, then rode in a pet taxi to Calais, and took a train to Paris. AirFrance allowed us to fly with our cat in cabin (there was also a dog on our flight)and we had zero issues.

Oh gosh, it's been a while since this was posted, but I've been looking for *any* way to keep my cat with me in-cabin for my upcoming move to Dublin. Delta's website says they don't allow any animals in-cabin or as cargo to Ireland/the UK. Was there a work-around you were able to find, if that's not too personal to ask? Or have the rules tightened in the past few months?
@clowderlibrary
2 жыл бұрын
That must be new because we had no issues calling and setting up a pet ticket! An alternative route we considered that might be a good option for you is to fly into Paris and then take the ferry from there.

@@clowderlibrary Thanks so much for the reply! I called back and they booked him without hesitating. I'm not sure if their website is out of date or if I just got lucky but I'm so glad I found your video. The other options were a pet carrier company or flying to CDG and then from CDG to Dublin, so this is much less stressful. Thanks again!

@@lissiebit (This is Jeff, Abbie's husband) Glad it worked out for you! For anyone else that might read this reply, here is what I posted for someone else above that had the same concern: Quick summary, info about pets and the Dublin Airport is here: www.dublinairport.com/at-the-airport/help-and-support/travelling-with-pets-and-animals. It looks like their policy changed for pets in the cargo hold DEPARTING Dublin, but other pets are fine. To double check, call the Customer Experience line at the airport here: www.dublinairport.com/contact-us before you book your flight. Also double check with your airline that they accept pets in the cabin. Here is a list of airlines that do: www.dogjaunt.com/guides/international-airline-pet-policies-for-in-cabin-travel/ Last note: Abbie and I have to go back to the States in October. This time we are going to fly Air France from Paris to Atlanta. I just booked today with Ted (our cat) in the cabin with no issue. So that is another option if all else fails (it would be a long train ride through UK then a ferry to Dublin, but you gotta do what you gotta do!). Long story short: with all of the ferries, flights, and pet taxis, you can get your cat wherever you need to go but you have to get creative :)

@@WVHSFootball If I were placing bets I'd say that Delta's stated policy has to do with the UK pet-in-cabin embargo. Several airlines (looking at you, KLM), have publicly confused Ireland with the UK with regard to the UK policy. But the agent didn't raise any red flags at all despite Delta's website. So I suppose the hope is that I don't turn up to the airport to be turned away! If I am I'll have to scramble a bit, but Delta will let pets fly in-cabin to the rest of the EU, so it's just a matter of flying to CDG and then picking up an AF flight into Dublin. I'll update if it works out so other people will know it's a feasible option! And yes, flying to the US with a pet in-cabin is super easy! The one positive of not having completely eradicated rabies???
