Back in '73 I had a Chandelle hang glider that I flew from the hills behind Cal Poly in SLO. I remember the day I saw the original Icarus that Taras K built from scratch and I was impressed. I was lucky to get a measly 5:1 glide ratio but that Icarus was an order of magnitude better. Nice video and thanks for posting!

My father unfortunately died in an EZ riser crash in 1979 (Dallas Ft.Worth), but his son still loves and appreciates these machines. It took brave MEN to afford this modern life we all enjoy today--that the majority take for granted!

I bought a powered Easy Riser kit from John in summer of 1979, had to sell my 900 Kawasaki Z-1 to raise the $1800 cash for it, he lived about 10 miles west of me on Hwy 142 in Brighton, Wi at the time. I never flew mine , after completion it made an unscheduled, unmanned flight in a Springtime wind storm while I was away at UW-Madison and broke it up pretty bad. Good times...

Can't recall the title or artist, but I get this music from youtube audio library. All free. Some music you are free to use without restrictions and some titles require that the title and artist are mentioned in a byline. Oh! And youtube also has a sound effects library! Such a deal!

Tom Bruner here from Alaska . The california easyriser kit came with 3 min training film ,ha . That is great seeing John Moody flying. I was one of his first customers to buy his 12 hp gocart motor package in the 70's. Then Mike Jacober saw me flying and said he was going to go back to anchorage and order one for his easyriser kit. Mike then went on to produce commercial landing gear and ski set up , also tryed a connard setup. I was in the army and raising kids but mike went on to develope a ultralite company in anchorage and sold world wide . Thanks for helping us get off the ground John 😊👍 here is my first flight after getting the motor: kzitem.info/news/bejne/1m98p3Z4paaFo34

There's one for sale in a never opened box from 1984 on the Facebook Uktralights buy and sell group. $2500, probably no motor, the motor was separate, they use a tiny 16hp.
