Dodging thunderstorms can be a bit tricky. The goal is to keep it safe by not actually flying through the storm and to avoid it entirely. In this case, they stretched all the way from Canada down into the Gulf. The mighty Herk can't go over in the Flight Levels with those Boeing and Airbus airliners so we need to pick our way through. Something fighters like the F-35 and F-22 have a harder time doing.
We use a combination of both ground-based ADS-B In weather with the aircraft weather radar being primary. Radio interference is generated by static buildup on the airframe. Nothing bad, just makes it hard to hear and focus.
About the flight suits:
We are wearing two-piece Operational Camouflage Pattern (OCP) Nomex Flight Suits. Same general cut and pattern as the single-piece green flight suits. Choice of which to wear is up to the individual. I personally find having pants and taking the top off while pushing pallets in hot and humid climates during an Engine Running Onload to be more comfortable. Less of a status uniform and more of a utility uniform. But it's all personal preference and many still prefer the old PJs. Gloves are nearby (my pocket) but not required in flight.
