Here is a video from day 3 of Tim's custom Flying V build. This is the third attempt at building a working Theremin circuit. Now armed with a better-quality 24 gauge wire, I soldered the wire to all components and then to the circuit board. I also installed the 555 timer chip along with the light-sensitive triggers.
After installing everything and checking for weak solder connections, I connected the 9-volt battery and plugged in a 1/4-inch guitar cable into my Allen & Heath mixer.
What came out was very disappointing. I could hear the power switch turned on and off in my headphones, yet there were no other noises. I then plugged it into the phantom power section of my mixer and could get a very faint swishy white noise, but not the theremin effect I was looking for.
I mentioned a few times that the mixer does not produce enough gain to hear what is happening with the theremin. But this is only a theory I have.
So, I will shop around for a small general-purpose amp and rerun the tests.
Stay tuned ... more to come!!!
