It's all or nothing. 99.9% is simply a partial eclipse and you'll miss all the things that totality brings. You won't be able to look at the sun without eye protection. Even being in the center of the path doesn't mean a thing if it's really cloudy. The path of totality only offers about a 40% chance of clear skies in the U.S at this time of year. Mazatlan, Mexico gives you a 75% chance of blue skies. The further North you go, the worse it gets. Texas is a pretty good bet, but it's still weather dependent. Know how to read weather maps and be ready to drive.

Those of us in Southern Illinois are dead center again. Just like 2017. I can't believe the odds. I live in Herrin, IL. 62948 The crowds will be crazy.

As the eclipse passes through east Texas I hope crazy Christians don't declare this a precursor to the rapture or the return of Jesus. Religion can provide so much entertainment.

Why will it be sick? Is it because anybody who isn't careful will go blind because of the eclipse?

I live in Cleburne TX totality 1:40-1:43 unfortunately it’s supposed to also be severe weather tornados hail the whole spectrum after the eclipse hoping to see it but it might be cloudy. Yes a total Solar Eclipse can enhance severe Weather in certain conditions

Once we transition, we'll see better wonders of the universe. Enjoy the eclipse in Nova Scotia in case your flying out there.

nova Scotia won't see totality. Only the tippy north part of it will, unfortunately. Major cities like Halifax and Sydney will miss out, so I highly suggest traveling to New Brunswick instead!! Totality will cut right through there, and the experience under the shadow will be so much different!

Between waiting on iffy spring weather forecasts and the traffic situation to the rural area of New England, I'm not sure what to do at this point. I'm sure campsites and hotels will all be full no matter what, and doing a 3-5 hour drive inland is a tough ask.

I live in the path, near Lima, Ohio. The local chamber of commerce sent out an info sheet to prepare for it-things like filling your gas tank before all the lookie-loos and getting eclipse glasses early. One of their reminders was not to schedule important events such as funerals during totality. So inconsiderate of someone to die when an eclipse is imminent. 🙄

I'll get 97% here in Grand Rapids Mi, good enough for me + no crowds!
@PrincePugsJr

Im sorry, but that is not good enough. The reason people get so excited is because of the totality portion. Everything amazing happens in that strip. Even if there are no crowds, going to totality, especially if your that close makes so much of a difference. Your life will change if you see it 100% covered. Trust me! Take the hour drive or so, it's so worth it.

97% looks good on paper, but I think there's a good-enough difference to make a decent trip and see it whole. Maybe pick a state park to visit too. {next time, maybe}
