hi. I originally posted this in one of your hk21 videos but not sure if you got a chance to see it..... Have you run both commercial (223 and 308) as well as nato spec (5.56 and 7.62) rounds? Any difference in performance? I’m curious how it runs without annealed case heads and crimped primers. I believe the crimped primer is something the military specs require due to loose mg chambers inducing blown primers. Asking as a hand loader looking to run reloads in both the mm23 and mm21. Love your channel by the way.

The case necks on 223 and 308 ammo are not annealed and are too soft to run in a belt-fed reliably. I stick with NATO 5.56 and 7.62. Although, steel case ammo does run reliably as well. I don't hand load, so I'm not much help there. Thank you!

@@lrm1981 annealing actually softens brass, not hardens it. that makes it less brittle and less likely to crack. the reason is brass is very easily work hardened, and gets extremely brittle and can break if not annealed, especially if reloaded. annealed brass being softer also allows for the brass to form fit to the chamber more easily and therefore doesn't allow firing residue to get in the chamber between the chamber wall and the brass to affect reliability

I had a question. I am by no means an SOT so maybe it's none of my business to be asking, but i am curious about something just for the sake of knowledge. But is that a factory full auto M249 Bolt / Op-Rod and FCG modified to fit in a Semi-Auto receiver or is it a Semi-Auto Bolt / Op-Rod and semi auto FCG modified to be full auto? Or just completely custom insides made from scratch? I always had that question in the back of my head so i figured i'd ask. Killer video btw, idk why i haven't stumbled across this sooner, i think youtube is trying to burry you despite me being subscribed.

Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed the video. It's a factory FA op/rod and bolt that has been modified to fit the M249s receiver. No modifications have been made to the receiver, so It can be converted back to a title 1 firearm once the FA parts are removed. Factory FA fire control parts were also added to the trigger housing. Obviously you need to be an SOT to legally convert these to full auto.

Hey guys! 07/02 here in the north Georgia mountains. We have recently acquired an M249S Para and are wanting to convert it. Been looking at the HDD conversion but it’s always out of stock. Any suggestions on where to find parts?

Try Ohio Ordnance Works. They make their own parts and they'll sell them. You'll need an op rod, slide assembly, and the trigger group internals except the safety. You can use your existing bolt; it just has 2 extra holes drilled through it.
