Thanks for the review. Would have been nice though to see the voltage on the oscilloscope for the voltage ripple as especially cheaper PSUs can have quite big spikes and drops.

I have a 0-60V, 0-6A power supply but it's not often i'll go over 30V with it the only time i can remember was when was charging a 42V bike battery with it its a Riden RD6006W really like that power supply

Thanks for the review. Any chance you can demo the ripple at different power-draws on a scope?

Thanks for the review - Some will have to have, just to gather dust. I can do without, It used to be all you need is an AVO. and Ohms Law to repair.

I ordered one a few months back and the package was lost before it left the country. lol I got a refund but haven’t reordered yet…..good timing on the video

Can we use it for inject current and finding a faulty capacitor on a motherboard? Use it as a short killer?
@beogeek

No, this is a SMPS or switch mode power supply you wont be able to do voltage injection tol locate a short. There's also another issue that it cannot output 30v regardless of what you connect to it. Its a good little tool for a hobist, not recommended for use in repairs, better to just get a dumb linear power supply for voltage injection.

@@beogeek I must ask why couldn't you do a voltage injection with this thing? I have used a Riden RD6006 for voltage injection and it has worked
@beogeek

@@Karthor. Because the RD6006 is a DC to DC Voltage current Step-down buck supply module and it can supply constant current or voltage depending what you set. The FNIRSI is a switch mode power supply, it has protection internally to cut down the power if it detects a short circuit, it will not continue to supply current or voltage like your buck supply or a simple dumb linear power supply.

@@beogeek do we see the same video, or am i misunderstanding this. Richard shorting the cable lead to check amp readings after setting it up and the voltage drops while the amp going up at 10:30. I see that basically as a short finder as the guy asked for.

So i suppose it`s a buck converter with a screen, what you put in is variable upto the voltage/current limit. I guess what the cpmpany should do when send something in for a reviewer to test is include there thoughts on what was in there minds when they designed the software, what was behind there though with a power scan increase from 0 to set voltage/current, when you are stuck trying to give a reason/example of a use for a specific function then the reason for it becomes void, it looks nice but like all voltage controllers you always have losses in this case 0.20 volts.

It nice but before i watch i will tell you it says USB-PD but it can only do 20V and not 28V because it is not USB-PD 3.1 compliant hardware. To get the more than 20V 100w output you need to use DC supply. This was not mentioned in product description. I talked to FNIRSI about this, i didnt even get a coupon hah

Also the terminals have a collar you can unscrew so you can fasten thin cables.

Guarantee that flimsy screen hinge will fail. Seems like a product searching for a customer. A decent linear power supply wouldn't really cost that much more .

I'm really not sure what I could use this for. It's a power supply, but you need a power supply to connect the power supply to. I'm not convinced this has a use in my workshop to be honest. I like FNRSI products, but it needs to be useful and not just sit there looking pretty. It miiight be useful for someone who needs a variable supply out on site, but you are still limited to the battery or powerbank you are running from.

So when you draw the maximum current I could see the voltage drop. Shouldn't it keep the voltage while increasing the power output?

What's CNC in the name?
@flygarfpv3496

Presumably, the standard definition: “computer numeric control” meaning a device controlled by commands from a computer. People are used to CNC routers and CNC milling machines, and often just associate the “CNC” with fabrication itself rather than it being a descriptor of how the device receives its instructions.
