Im sorry but this just seems like a great way to have a foal snap a leg. I really wish you'd maybe look at boarded up panels for this which would be so muxh safer, with no chance of having them catch there legs in the spaces. Ive seen this happen before, of a wild foal in a roundpen who in a panic put his leg through the bars and managed to snap his leg and then had to be put down. If you just put some wooden boards on the inside of the panels you use, drill some holems and secure with zip ties would be easily removable and much safer.

Might want to watch Amry Palmer You Tubes where she starts with foals less than yearlings. I’m sure you don’t want any of your boys hurt nor the foal badly injured. SLOW progress is better for the foal and not so scary. Also safer for those doing the training. Hope this helps.
