I might start using the hartmann and bathinov mask. Thanks for the demonstration of all the different types

Or something like the custom design. That seemed to work even better than the conventional bathinov or hartmann mask

Very nice video. My favorite was the Hartmann/Bahnitov combo. Have you tried with no mask at all? You will get diffraction spikes from your secondary mirror holder or spider veins. I use that technique with my Newtonian and a bright star. Not sure if mask is even better.

Thanks for your candid feedback, I too felt The Hartmann and Bahtinov combo is good as it’s good for visual and camera but for utmost precision TriBahtinov is better, there is another design called GoldFocus design but I didn’t find that on Amazon. I do get the defraction spikes from spider veins but feel masks are more accurate.

Pity you didn't show the standard two-hole Hartmann mask as it is often incorporated right into the telescopes dust cover that comes with the scope. I find the Bahtinov just fine. The music in your video is way too loud - can't even hear your final comment.

Thanks for the feedback, as the GSO didn’t had any mask built in the dust cover, I thought showing the three hole will establish a correlation between Hartmann Bahtinov combination. The real Hartmann mask was however having way more no of holes arranges in an arc formation.
