The text was edited by our editor and photojournalist, Antonio Conte - An important airdrop operation in Hungarian territory was successfully concluded, with the participation of one hundred and forty-four paratroopers of the prestigious Folgore Brigade of the Italian Army. This event marks a significant step in the collaboration between Italy and Hungary, with the aim of improving interoperability between the armed forces of the two countries and strengthening ties between allied nations within the Atlantic Alliance.
The operation, called enhanced Vigilance Activity, (e.V.A.), saw Italian paratroopers carry out airdrops in Hungary, also using individual armament and equipment. The training took place over three intense days, with the participation of instructors from the Hungarian Special Forces, who shared fundamental technical knowledge about the aircraft, the equipment used and the air launch procedures.
The MI-diciassette helicopter, known for its reliability, load capacity and versatility, was used for the airdrop. This aircraft can be used not only for airdrop activities, but also for the transport of personnel, the supply of materials and medical evacuations. The airdrop was carried out using semi-directional parachutes OVP-dodici SL-uno, of Czech production.
The main objective of the training was to prepare the Italian paratroopers for the international Battle Group level exercise called "Adaptive Hussars". This exercise will take place throughout the Hungarian territory and will involve Italian paratroopers in carrying out airdrops to conquer and hold "key points". This represents a crucial part of a five-day ground tactical activity, in an area far from the contingent's headquarters.
An important result of this operation was the achievement of the Hungarian military parachuting license by the Italian paratroopers. This step further strengthens the already excellent relations between the Italian and Hungarian armed forces, developed through numerous joint exercises carried out over the last few months.
The ability of parachute units to be placed by airdrop even in areas that cannot be reached by land represents an added value and a decisive element for the success of the Italian contingent deployed in Hungary as part of the eVA operation. This contingent is called to contribute, through its training and operational activities, to the deterrence and defense efforts of the Atlantic Alliance.
In conclusion, the eVA operation demonstrated Italy's strong commitment to increasing international cooperation and strengthening its position as a key member within the Atlantic Alliance. The collaboration between Italy and Hungary continues to grow, offering a tangible example of how allied nations can work together to ensure security and stability in the region and beyond.
