I hope you enjoy this behind the scenes look at creating images from one of the most impressive observatories that has ever existed. A couple of clarifications (and I will probably add to the list here). I think I may have indicated that the JWST image used an obstruction- but I do not believe it did. The dark spot is just saturation. Also I do not think I spelled out something as clearly as necessary. This Fomalhaut debris disk is not currently forming planets from gas. Everything that is going to form from the natal gas has already done so in this mature system. However, there is quite a bit of material that can collide- so the reordering of the disk is constantly happening until it settles down.
