As an admirer of ballet, but not a dancer, I look up to Kathryn Morgan so much. Her work ethic, resilience, and integrity make her someone people in any field can be inspired by. Plus, she's so real and gives it to us straight with a sense of humour!

"It might not go the way I planned. It certainly did not go the way I planned. Everything I've achieved has been because something went awry." That is awesome

I'm a young choreographer, and in casting my work now and in the future I want to undo these pervasive ideas about what excellence in ballet looks like. I don't want to perpetuate the body insecurities handed down to myself and others, and I would love to broaden the scope of who gets to play which roles. I want to work with dancers who are happy, healthy, and well-paid!

thank you so much for sharing! One thing I want to add to the discussion about standards in ballet is that I've heard directors say that the audience wants to see stick-thin bodies. I am very glad you guys bring up the fact that actually, this is not true (and as an audience member, I would agree). Thanks so much for the important conversation!

Go Katie! Ballet directors need to change; they are doing so much damage. The sad truth is that most dancers are tiny. You are size 2 as you say! That is thin enough. The fashion industry has finally been getting a clue on this. Now it’s the ballet companies’ turn!!!

I wish the public could simply demand to see their favorite dancers perform and apply pressure to these companies.

This conversation is so important to be something to include in ballet schools spetialy to profesors and teachers. They have to be so carefull of the coment and critics they do to students. congratulation. i was a ballet dancer, didnt became a profetional but i was training a lot so i started to develop an eating desorder.....and i have became obses with my weight. now that i am older its so important that students get the psicological help that they nead in every profesional school.

Thank you for this video. Young dancers needs to year this. I adored my last 2 dance teachers because they never made you feel bad about your body. Which was great after having a teacher who tried to squeeze me in to a skirt which was a size xs, I'm a size s.
