Tunisia produced 300,000 tons of olive oil during the 2019 harvest. In spite of the turmoil caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the North African country's olive oil exports have experienced substantial growth in 2020. More and more private sector employees as well as residents of the cities are moving to the inner regions and villages to work in the olive oil sector which guarantees food for millions of Tunisians while providing important foreign exchange reserves.
