Stuff I forgot to mention: The game is not inherently competitive, and I love it for that. There are good and bad cards, sometimes you get unlucky monster hunting. I forgot to say, the components are good. Dice are bright and etched, card material is ok, pretty shiny. Box is durable, holds all the cards well, though you will need to make a custom insert for all sleeved cards. A part in the rules clarifying what is a card, gear setup, etc. would be great. There is some first player advantage. Some cards are best when you go first, also you get more chances to get loot, and when you think about it, the first player by default has more tavern cards than other players at the start of every round. There is a Sidequest variant which is great for shorter games. (there is a top-secret official Fool's Blade discord)

Fully agree on how it's not inherently competitive. I played a game with family who tend to dislike really cutthroat games and we had someone play as the thief (forget the name) that steals from other players and someone else was the Paladin that cures curses. We didn't really force anyone else to fail but we stole a lot of stuff and cancelled a lot of cards and it just felt like goofy fun. There's also the card that forces someone to help you fight but has the drawback of them getting to take loot first (which is another thing that needs to be clarified in rules for stuff like if you get to claim modifiers). Something I also really like about it as a side note is the RNG is humorous. e.g. there's a weak slime enemy in the forest as you'd expect but there's also a Lost Slime in the 2nd difficulty and a Very Lost Slime in the 3rd. Also love that there's a random innocent civilian enemy and the reward and punishment for failing to kill them are both hilarious. Every time RNG beats us up (or gives us garbage) it just tends to be a chance to laugh at the situation. With how much mitigation there is in the game, I feel like it's more what Munchkin was trying to be. I'm really glad I decided to back this game.

So circle can you answer these questions about 1- when does the curse timer goes down 2- a monster with a modifier monster the modified monster will be from which types of monster 3-how tavern cards are resolved which are first which are second like here 4:54

Diagnosis: A fast-paced, comedically chaotic, sword crafting, monster slaying, loot grabbing, friendship ruining backstabbing sickness. I'm afraid it may be fatal

Really loved your editing on this video. Really solid points all-round. I had that hot-potato-style gear card (Gibbering Skull) in my hand all of the first game because I didn't want to play it. I eventually played it to use a gear-based buff but it was of course then gone and removed. Seriously had to go through the rulebook to double check I knew what a Curse card looks like because I figured it probably was one. lol

Great review! I totally agree that playing attacking based cards can absolutely make the other players want to target me, has happened more times than I care to admit 🤣 I also use the house rule for the anvil cards not going on the top, i dont understand that vanilla rule. I look forward to Circle and the team to provide more rule clarifications, had to refer to the discord more times than not for a few clarifications

Some class suggestions for the future... Mayor: You can discard three tavern cards at the end of your turn and nobody will go to the destination you said for one turn. (If you choose monster hunting say one of them) The guy who always carries his backpack: hands limit is 11

while i recommend four souls as well, it's very much similar to munchkin, players will be at each-others' throats by the end of the game lol

i honestly think the blacksmith is alot better then you give it credit for, keep in mind that its ability means you can grab all the good sword parts before other players would ever have access to those parts. Notably you have a house rule that negates this, but ignoring that id even argue blacksmith is one the best cards in the game
@CardboardCook
Ай бұрын
I think you might be right I ranked him too low. If the Anvil Deck is in the right situation, he can be very good. He doesn't help you at all mid to late game though. The Only Guy Who Came Prepared is way better still. I'm not sold on the house rule. That was more for some players who went Forging a bit too much lol
@egg3926
Ай бұрын
@@CardboardCook though i do agree the the only guy who came prepared is the better class overall, the ability to prevent other players from assembling a full sword is the one thing the blacksmith does better and can be really powerful
@CardboardCook
Ай бұрын
ye, blacksmith can do that more easily. The First Player can also do the same thing, especially if you take back your handle to take another good weapon part by reforging. Another reason I suspect there is first player advantage but that's a whole other thing and needs to be studied more

ye ye, I filmed at night partly because dungeon setting and also running late filming. The lights I put around are picked up sometimes, sometimes not. I'll have to look into fixing that next time, especially for the shutter effect in the stop motion. I heard extending the time it takes to take photos helps

Okay imma stop watching this video after you did the weird clarifications about card effects because I want to watch another video(no offense this video is good) But I do have to say, Futuristic armor specifies destroyed instead of destroyed by another player, because monsters can break your gear
