Only for Fools
“Fools Rush In (Where Angels Fear to Tread)” was composed in 1940 by Rube Bloom, with lyrics by Johnny Mercer. The 1940 major hits of the popular song included recordings by Glenn Miller with Ray Eberle, Anne Shelton and Ambrose, Tommy Dorsey with Frank Sinatra, and Harry James. The most famous version of “Fools Rush In” was the 1963 Rick Nelson recording included in his “Rick Nelson Sings ‘For You’” album, and featured in the film “Scorpio Rising.” Pop and rhythm and blues artists produced other notable recordings of the song, particularly during the 1960s. On this April Fool's Day, don’t be fooled by pianist Charles Manning fooling around with his improvisation of the popular song “Fools Rush In.”
