the series didn't come out a decade ago, it was released in 2000 in japan and 2003 in the US. This show is legit over 20 years old and the animation is still amazing

I recently noticed something about Atomsk Naota. The bandage coming off. The horns sprouting out of his head are representative of him being horny for Haruko. The whole time he’s been trying to hide it. Cover it up with a bandage. At the very end, once he’s taken Atomsk, he’s done. He’s not trying to hide it anymore. And there’s no more horn either. All the emotions come out. He’s no longer horny for Haruko, he truly loves her. 😢

From series such as Gunbuster and Evangelion, to FLCL and TTGL, it seems like Studio Gainax purposely set out to create anime that would remain in the minds and hearts of people for years to come. Mission accomplished.

This was my first anime! Back in 2003 or so when it aired on Toonami. I was about 7 years old so I didn’t understand much of anything, but the animation and the music is definitely something I never forgot. Even now I am a huge fan of the series and it’s sequels. I went back to listen to a lot of The Pillows albums that came before and after Flcl. I’m glad they still make music and think it is pretty awesome how they sound like no time has passed.

It definitely makes watching it again a different experience. It kinda becomes a game to watch and look for things that you thought was insignificant before. The biggest eye opener for me was the whole sweet vs bitter and spicy food metaphor 👀

it makes me very happy to see people talk about fooly cooly. and yeah it was also my first anime that aired on toonami when i was 10 lmao but its still amazing. i'm so hyped that they're making newer seasons to flcl like grunge and another season i can't remember the name of, even if they aren't amazing or anything like that it just makes me happy they're giving attention to this masterpiece. but lets be honest, season one just can't be beat LOL

FLCL is one of my favorites of all time if you never watched it I highly recommend it, if you watched it when you were younger it’s a must you re-watch it now as an adult, the music, the art style, the story it’s telling is all so beautiful Johnny sum it up perfectly it’s a 10/10 for sure. I’m forever grateful to Toonami for airing this

It was definitely the soundtrack that made me immediately love FLCL. I was 15 when the show premiered and so much stuff went over my head, but the pillows music always told me what I should be feeling during a particular scene. The soundtrack and the fact it's only six episodes keeps me coming back, and I really had the chance to "get" what it's all about. Absolute masterpiece of a series

FLCL is the ultimate coming-of-age story, it used "cool" motifs found in the lives of all children from every scope of life, to showcase how we grow up as men, and the thing/toys we still cling onto; From the guitars, girls and yes, even baseball, Furi Kuri is how a young boy should or has to grow up. The pain of loss, living in the shadow of someone you love, persevering though angst, virginity and male ego....its about touching greatness...even if for a moment, letting it go, and living your life as honest as you can. Haruko is just a catalyst, the walking Id that every boy needs. All of us men have a Haruko in our lives, cherish them, thank them, they're the ones that activated your N.O. and made you the hero of the day or the weekend that one time....

I never realized it but Haruko not once callde Naota by his real name and called him Takkun just like Mamimi did which was a tell to the audience they both see Naota as a surrogate of his brother or in more symbolic terms "adulthood" not seeing the real him for who he really was, a child. The only person to acknowledge Naota's real age is His friends and his father

It’s the best anime that will ever be made no matter what comes out this is the best there is so Many things I can say about this. The ascetic the story the characters the emotion but I think something I need to say is the seen where the purple haired girl has a water gun and puts it to her face and looks through it I don’t know why and trust me I tried to find out but that seen impacted me more then any pease of media I have ever watched I think you can only give it 2 Scores a 1 or a 10 no in between but for me it’s more then just finding it a number there is no way it can capture everything if I had to give it a number then ya a 10
