A very good review. The multi colored spruce is an excellent idea for the young modelers who don't wish to paint the model. A simple assembly out of the box would produce a decent car.

Jason - great find in the stash and it looks like it could be a blast to build especially doing all the planking by hand and as per Friday - yes a premier on ship is a great idea especially if timed with Steve's to occur one after the other

Hi Jason, This kit has been on my wish list since it was released,I thought it was a bit expensive tho at the time ,although it will make into quite a stunning display model I am sure ,would like to see a build series on it too ,as if you haven't got enough to do .

I think on the firewall/bulkhead you'd be best off just remaking it out of new wood. By the time you add veneer to both side it will be too thick. I'd bet the bonnet is part of the kit that Italeri redid. As you said, the detail was finer and the louvers were open. Not a trait of 1970's moulding. Those injection gates are hilarious. And have fun with the chains. Don't envy you there. The box said over 500 parts. I think 450 of those are the chain!

Jason thank you very much for showing me this awesome kit and I'm going to have to buy me one, and I really really want to see you do a build series on this kit? I use straight Clorox bleach to strip off my chrome parts! Thank you and I have a 1/12 scale Bentley Blower that I'm going to build sometime!

Nice kit . Not sure but I think chrome parts should actually be nickel plated . Stand to corrected .

Nice BIG kit Jason. It looks like you have already done quite a bit of work on it. I hate the chrome plating that comes on model parts. Like you said best to strip and paint for a more realistic look. Regular old household bleach should take it off. See you next time.

Purple power? Not sure what your referring to and in reference to what?

Purple power is a cleaning solution and a degreaser. Its for the steering wheel to dechrome it. I live in the USA so I'm guesting you live in the UK. Look it up on Amazon. It will not damage the plastic I use it on old plastic kits.

Built this a few years ago ,just a pity they did not put a metal chain drive in ,it would have made the model a museum item, have tried to post photo but failed any advice.?

Ok, just so I can sound like a know it all, the pronunciation is Mef-a-stof-o-lees. He was the Devils agent that seals the deal for Faust’s soul. Pretty cool name for a race car. Italian spelling is a bit different than the original German. There a bit of worthless knowledge for the day.
