“FOR THE LONGEST TIME” The first time I heard this song was in 1983 when I was the warmup and intermission act during a concert at Hamilton Place. The headliners at the time were a Canadian acapella singing group called THE NYLONS and they did an amazing job on it. It was probably a year later that I’d come to learn that it was a song by Billy Joel off his masterpiece “An Innocent Man” album that he released in 1983 to pay homage to his growing up in New York City during the infancy of Rock ‘n Roll music. Billy is one of the finest composer, musician, entertainers to ever come out the United States in the twentieth century. There were not too many lounge singers like me back in the early 70’s who didn’t open with "Piano Man”, especially on a Saturday night. I hadn’t done this particular song for the longest time 😉 so a couple of weeks back I brought it back to life and tested it out on one of the dance clubs I play for and they seemed to enjoy dancing to it. Either that or they were just trying to spare my feelings, lol! As a result, I recorded it and added some 50’s jive dance footage to liven thing up. Thanks for listening!
