In 1981, God spoke to me in my dream through this song. I woke up realizing I needed Jesus into my life. The message of the song brought me to my knees, I repented of my sins and accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior. I can’t forget those words, “…I strove to remind you that for those tears I died..”

I sang this song in church when I was 8 years old (my mom picked my songs lol). Anyway, I'm up there singing and I see a lady crying and inside I started getting nervous because I thought I'd messed up or something. After church, my mom told me I did good, and I told her 'well so n so was crying', my my told me the words of the song touched her heart. I later found out that this lady had just had a miscarriage. That was my first lesson at learning the importance of music and word meaning. I am 50 years old now....and I still never forgot that moment!

I just heard this in church and started crying because the HolybSpitit touched me. I have been walking away and living in darkness for some time now. There seemed to be a force driving me to get to church this day even though I was late. I knew there was a reason, so to push on. With only 20 minutes left, I arrived, and soon after this, it was time for this song. I knew it was what God wanted me to hear and why His spirit drove so hard for me to get there. Thank you, Lord.

Thank You Yeshua Ha'Mashiach You said you'd come and share all my sorrows, You said you'd be there for all my tomorrows, I came so close to sending you away But just like you promised, you came here to stay, I just had to pray. And Jesus said, "Come to the water, stand by my side. I know you are thirsty, you won't be denied. I felt every tear drop when in darkness you cried, And I strove to remind you that for those tears I died." Your goodness so great I can't understand. But dear Lord, I know that all this was planned; I know you're here now and always will be. Your love loosed my chains and in You I'm free, but Jesus why me? Jesus, I give you my heart and my soul, I know now without God, I'd never be whole. Savior, you opened all the right doors, And I thank you and praise you from earth's humble shores, Take me I'm yours.

"FOR THOSE TEARS I DIED", BY 'WEST CREEK HARMONY', IS A BEAUTIFUL, BEAUTIFUL SONG! IT HAS SO MUCH TRUTH TO IT!! "NAILS DIDN'T HOLD "JESUS" TO THE CROSS, LOVE DID!!!" "JESUS" "CHRIST", IS AN AWESOME, AMAZING, LOVING, CARING, GIVING, CONSIDERATE, COMPASSIONATE, MERCIFUL, ALL POWERFUL, MIRACLE WORKING "GOD"!!! "HE" DESERVES THE HIGHEST OF PRAISE!!!" EVEN THOUGH I'VE ALREADY GOT TWO SONGS THAT I WANT PLAYED AT MY FUNERAL, IF I PASS BEFORE "JESUS" COMES BACK, I WOULD LIKE SOMEONE TO PLAY AND SING THIS SONG AT MY FUNERAL! (I'M NOT YELLING OR HOLLERING, I PROMISE. THE CAPITAL LETTERS ARE JUST TO EXPRESS HOW SINCERE I AM, AT THE MOMENT.

I am watching this video of an hymn I'd never heard, because I'm reading the excellent autobiography "Sing Over Me," by Dennis Jernigan, writer of much contemporary praise music of today. He auditioned singing & playing it in college--It seems, as I read his book, this song ended up being the theme of his life, though much suffering preceded his finding peace with God thru Jesus: feel I know even more what The Lord had in mind for his life.

I love this song. It was so meaningful to me as a kid raised in the Jesus People movement. Marsha Stevens-Pino wrote it in 1969, and it became a very important hymn to the young Christian hippies on the West Coast in the seventies and into the eighties. So sad that folks stopped singing it in 1981 after Marsha came out as a lesbian in 1981. So amazing that as a young, queer kid, I was singing "I felt every tear drop" while I was struggling with my identity in a community that didn't accept me. It's so beautiful that you are helping to bring it back. Hopefully, queer kids that hear it today will be served like I was by this song by a queer Christian woman.

If you perform this song in public, you are supposed to purchase a performance license for it. If you record the song and play the recording only for yourselves in private, no license is needed, but if you play that recording on the radio (or TV) you are supposed to purchase a broadcast license. If your recording is in a jukebox, you are supposed to purchase a mechanical license. This is how royalties are paid to the writer of the song, Marsha Stevens, who may be a member of either ASCAP or BMI (both have websites), agencies which administer copyrights and collect fees. Since you did not buy a license to perform or broadcast, you are in violation of copyright. The copyright holder can complain to KZitem which will then take the video down. (This has happened with all the music of Jimi Hendrix, because his sister orders it removed.) For all the other copyright violators, KZitem (and Spotify and other streaming services) has worked out an agreement to pay the fee for you. Every time someone clicks on this video, Marsha Stevens is supposed to collect a small sum for the performance of her song. Since the number of plays each day of all songs at this site would soon bankrupt KZitem, they sell ads to pay for the right to broadcast (webcast) this song. This song will be under copyright as long as Marsha Stevens is alive and for 75 years after her death. I hope this has been of some help. I enjoyed your performance.
