Honestly, I got up this morning, had a coffee and watched this vid. I decided I was gonna try my first 10k in a long long time. After going past mile 4, I started to struggle but I so badly wanted to comment on this vid that I pushed through by thinking comment comment comment! I finally made it, and as I sit here typing this, feeling knackered, just wanna go you and Emma a big thumbs up for taking me out of my jogging comfort zone 👍🏻

Janet, I had four or five 1hr 04m-1hr 10m times under my belt as was going no where and then someone told me to build it up from scratch, Can I run a comfortable 2km run in 12 minutes? I did it with twenty seconds to spare. Ok, Can I do a 3km run in 18 mins? It took me a couple of goes at it but I did it. Then it was Can I do 4km in 24 mins, 5km in 30 mins etc and I kept doing longer runs at the same pace adding half a km here and there but they made me go past 10km. Can I do a 12km in 72 minutes? What they were doing is getting me use to the same pace but just using my growing fitness to go further and further. Once I had a dozen 12km runs under my belt then the step down to 10lm actually felt easy and I actually got three 10km race times of 55 minutes or there abouts. Its about improving your fitness, increasing your self belief and then just being comfortable with the pace. By the time I ran the 10km, I knew I could break the hour mark, it was just about by how far and how comfortable i could feel doing it. Good luck! We are behind you !

Well Done Emma & brilliant video Harry, my story is very similar, I'm a 53 year old lady and started CT5k during the first lockdown with my husband's encouragement (he is a very keen runner & did the London Marathon this year). I try and do the Parkrun each week but get very nervous, I obtained my goal of a Sub 30 in April 2022 and today ran 28.35, 5 secs off my PB. I am entered into a 10k race in July and would love to achieve a Sub 60, my previous PB is 1.02.50 on a flat course whereas the one in July is quiet hilly. My husband is going to pace me and says I shouldn't get hung up about the time, just enjoy it & soak up the atmosphere of a bigger race, I know I'll be very nervous on the day but watching your video has really inspired me, if I don't achieve it in July I'm sure one day with determination I will.

Its one the hardest things to achive when setting these targets for your self. That mental pressure you place yourseld under than have such a physical effect. Thank you so so much, it was brutal but all in my mind. Couldn’t have done it without Harry pacing, I would have happily snuck off into a side street in the last km 😂

I couldn’t love this more! Well done Emma 🎉 Harry your videos just get better and better! I’ll never forget my first sub 1 hour 10km, surrounded by supportive runners, it’s the absolute best feeling to smash a goal! My next goal is a sub 2 hour half. Thanks for the inspirational videos!

Thanks Catherine, they take multiple days to put together (often for just a few minutes of video) so it's appreciated. Bring on the sub-2 half! Harry

Way to go both of you for the encouragement and on the goal! I just happened upon a 1:08 10k while focused on other distances. Thinking this’d be a good goal to focus my other training.
