Lyrics I'd give you everything And more and that's for sure (For your love) I'd bring you diamond rings And things right to your door to thrill you with delight I'd bring you diamonds bright (For your love) everything that will excite Make you dream of me at night For your love For your love For your love For your love For your love, for your love I would give you stars above For your love, for your love I would give you all I could For your love I'd give the stars If they were mine to give (For your love) I'd give the moon Everyday that I live to thrill you with delight I'd bring you diamonds bright (For your love) everything that will excite Make you dream of me at night For your love For your love For your love For your love For your love For your love For your love For your love For your love For your love For your love For your love

When I saw the title I thought I know the Yardbirds did this in 1965. Didn't even know Fleetwood Mac did a reimagined cover. I'll take the original over this. It's always hard to overcome an iconic song with a cover that sounds different from the original.

I liked what FM did with their version though, with like the bongo drums or whatever that instrument is and the guitar had a different twist as well

The Yardbirds version is a cover, too. This song was written by Graham Gouldman years before he was a member of 10CC. He wrote quite a few popular songs that lined his pockets pretty well.

@@chazblitz It was written by Graham Gouldman. The Yardbirds originally recorded the song, so it was not a cover.

@metalmark1214 I thought the same until I heard an interview with Graham Gouldman on the podcast that Gary Kemp and Guy Pratt do. There is, in fact, a recorded version way before the Yardbirds version. Gouldman is an interesting dude and a great interview. The podcast is called Rockonteurs.

@@chazblitz Hmmm, what band recorded it before the Yardbirds? What label? Just curious.

I agree, I like the guitar and that bongo/drum stuff they added to this version. I did not know FM had a version of this song, but now I know they do. Loved It!!

Bob Welch great as always on guitar and vocals, but surprised I couldn't hear Christine on backing vocals. May have to dig my old LP out and listen more closely. Thanx kids.

Yeah I didn't hear her voice either, she probably was in the background doing some "Awhs and Oohs" and playing piano/keyboard. This was early FM so she might not have had a chance yet, to show anybody her great voice. But, loved Bob Welch's voice and guitar playing that added a nice "twist" to this already awesome song.

Good one Chaz. I don't know if it's because you requested it, but all I could think of was The Smithereens. They should have done For Your Love.

I agree it did have a little Smithereens sound to FM version

This song was issued as a single from the Mystery To Me album. The B side of this single was the song Hypnotized. The radio stations started playing Hypnotized instead of the A side, and quickly, this song became an afterthought. As great as he is as a guitarist, Bob Welch was the rhythm guitarist here with Bob Weston, who replaced the great Danny Kirwan, does the heavy lifting lead guitar work on this album and Penguin before it. Weston was fired from the band when it was discovered he was boinking Mick Fleetwoods wife. This is my favorite period of FM from Future Games in 1971 thru Heroes Are Hard To Find in 1974. There were nine FM albums before Lindsey Buckingham and that girlfriend of his joined and effectively ruined a good rock band. Those first 9 albums are where the true gold lies.

LOL, I think this band did alot of "boinking" around with each others significant others thru the years, but I think that's why I had so much respect for Christine McVie, of course she was married to John but they broke up as well, but she seemed to stay true to herself. But, as far as this song, I liked the bongo/drum they had in many of their older songs, and I liked FM guitar twist with this version better than the Yardbirds, plus I have never been a big fan of Clapton, most think he is the greatest guitar player of all times, IMO he didn't even come close. But, great request here, I loved it!! Have a great weekend My Friend.

I guess I've been under a rock, never listened to any of their pre Buckingham/Nick's stuff, but I do know Bob Welch's solo stuff, love his voice. I may check out their discography this weekend. Thanks for the great request UC, you're sending me off on another musical journey!

@karenduell1027 There is an audio only concert from 1974 recorded at the KSAN radio studio with no audience for a live radio broadcast. This was weeks before Bob Welch handed in his resignation. This was after the firing of Bob Weston and left Bob Welch to handle all the guitar parts, and he shines like the sun. Songs from their whole catalog up to that point. It's only like an hour or so long, and I recommend highly. The first album with Buckingham and Nicks was FM's 10th album.

@chazblitz I listened to the concert, really enjoyed it! I have always preferred Christine's voice to Stevie's, so it was cool to hear her voice, along with Bob Welch. I'm beginning the deep dive now, starting with Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac. I still can't believe I never listened to any of their stuff before Buckingham/Nick's, I guess we had so much great music that it flew under the radar for me like so many others. Thanks again for another great musical journey!

Not a bad cover. I prefer the Yardbirds version of the song. Some of the pre Rumours Mac is ok. That being said The vast majority of the fans would agree that everything from rumors and going forward was the superior music!!

I figured we had the Yardbirds version on here, because I don't think we would have forgotten this song, it such a classic. Thank You for letting me know, now I do not feel bad about having a "cover song" on and not the "original" as well.
