Great track from a superb album. Their previous album under the Russia name is brilliant too. Shame they didn’t hit the big time.

0:12 to 0:14 I wonder what keyboard instrument was used to make that unusual sounding synth riff?

This is the second album from a band originally called RUSSIA. You can find selected tracks from their self titled first lp here on youtube. They were a "Should have been huge" band.

Yes they were from Cypress, Ca. I heard it playing in a record store when it was released and bought it- Big Bens in Lakewood , Ca.It was giving me Tom Petty vibes. Loved loved it and thought they'd make it bigger.

Rewinding even further....these guys started out as The Sorcerer's Apprentice a Seattle cover band who was booked by the same agent as a band I was playing with in the '70's. They were HANDS DOWN the best band of their kind back then. Griff Stevens on vocals, Robert Puff on woodwinds, Larry Tuttle on bass, Tom Brighton on guitar and Gordon Halpern (now Gordon Rapheal of Strokes fame) on keys. His parents used to live a couple of blocks from where I am currently living. I don't remember the name of the drummer at that time. They got signed, made a record under the name Russia then became Force ten. Gordon Rapheal went on to play with Sky Cries Mary and produce The Strokes among many others. He did not play on the Russia or Force Ten records. Griff Stevens was living in Poland last I heard. Larry Tuttle is a highly accomplished stick player and Tom Brighton plays with The Lonely Hearts Club...a Seattle based Beatles tribute band. I was fortunate enough to have seen The Sorcerer's Apprentice more times than I can count at high schools. middle schools and roller rinks. My favorite band in Seattle....ever. I only wish videos of These guys existed in either band.

@@Vitotesta Thanks for the info. Me and a friend have been getting into that Russia album recently, these guys were killer! Shame they didn’t get to do much. Do you know if they had anything recorded as Sorcerers Apprentice?
