Yes deer flies were a real nuisance. I'd watch them gather round the intake breather cap. Frankly I appreciated the oil bath catching them as that made life a little less miserable with them dead.

Thanks for the video. I recently acquired my first tractor and I'm trying to find a video about it (earlier model 2000 with the cartridge filter). I noticed yours has only one fuel filter where mine seems to have two. How often should those be changed?
@farmboy30117
10 жыл бұрын
Depends on the cleanliness of the fuel you're using. I always keep a filter on hand but don't change it until it starts showing signs of clogging. Usually the tractor will start surging when it needs changing. Some people recommend changing yearly when you change the oil.
@tjsean0308

One will be a particulate only filter the other is a water separator. Change them at the same time and beware of cheap quality o-rings that come with cheap filters. I would recommend changing at the same time as the oil filter. -Long time ford tractor dealership mechanic.

Diesel head Yes, it's engine oil. I like to use non-detergent 30 weight oil but you can use regular engine oil like 10W30. Don't use a heavy oil like gear oil though.

+badnissan hrdbdy It uses hydraulic oil or sometimes called tractor fluid. It goes in the rear and in the transmission.

@farmboy30117

The injectors need to be bled to remove any air. Loosen the injector fuel lines and crank it over. There should be fuel leaking from the lines. Once you see fuel, tighten down on the lines and try to crank it. If you aren't getting any fuel, then I'd suspect the injection pump or fuel supply to the injection pump. Hope this helps.

A clogged up fuel filter kept mine from starting in the past. Disconnect the fuel line that goes out to the pump and see if there is a good flow.

So in The midle you have The transmision oil check, în The Back where The 2 screws are and you showed to check level on The top screw, what oil it is there? Hydra or transmision?
@farmboy30117

The rear diff section supplies hydraulic oil to the lift system. On this tractor, both hydraulic and transmission oils are the same type of oil.

Thanks for the reply, I don't know if its a older design kind of thing or if it was an optional thing. All I know is I cant find what the filter is and I hate to pull the top off without having replacement O rings. I asked on a few tractor forums and get told I need the taller filter but no one can tell me where to buy it, or what the part number is. I think this weekend I am just going to have to stop at the tractor lot where I bought this one from and see if their parts department has the proper part for it or can atleast get it.

+farmboy30117, I hit up napa today after work, no luck there, found a wix cross over for the original ford number but Wix currently isn't making it. Only other option is to hit up the Ford/New Holland dealership where the tractor was bought from for a few to stock up on. I'm in the same boat I don't know how old they are, the dual fuel filter/water seperators had Ford filters on it. Last time I checked they haven't been made in over 15 years by Ford. Wouldn't be surprised if they were originals from 1968 along with the power steering filter.

I've just got a Ford 4000. The gearbox and hydraulic fluid is the same isn't it? But where do I fill this up?
@farmboy30117
7 жыл бұрын
Yes. The hydraulic fluid fill port should be on top of the rear axle near the seat and (if you have the 8 spd transmission) it is near the gear shifter. There are 2 small plugs (square head) on the right side of the transmission (one midway of the transmission housing and the other just beyond the transmission/rear housing flange) that you remove and fill until oil comes out.
@erdemir5641
7 жыл бұрын
OK thanks, I found them in the end! There is a problem with the bucket not lifting/hydraulics not working. What do you think is the most likely cause? I thought either the pump or the seals, but I'm not sure which seals to check. I can't find much on Google.

I've never had to work on the hydraulic system of our tractors but I would recommend getting a good repair manual. I found a reproduction factory manual on eBay that covers '65-'75 models 2000, 3000, 4000, and more. The only issue I have with it are the pictures. When reproduced, the pictures are very dark and it's hard to see exactly what they are showing. I looked through it for you, but there are so many variables it would be impossible to diagnose over the internet. One place I'd look first is if yours has a little lever on the right side housing under the lift control. This is a selector switch and if it's in the wrong position the hydraulics won't work. It should be near a round knob (flow control). I believe the switch should be in the up position. Hope this helps.

the hydraulics is pretty much easy to repair if i remember corect. On the 4000 the rear axle oil and hydraulic is al te same. So just lift of the hydraulic block under the seat and put out the plunger and replace the seal. But you should check the pressure of the oil pump before. greetings from germany

Thank you so much and congratulation for your video! It's very clear.This oil filter it's the only one for de force system ? What I'm try so ask you is: My ford3000 don't have force to raise the crane up with load like it had before (only sometimes), and I'm suspecting that the problem could be with this filter clogged up (that you have showed). Can you give me you opinion, mister? Have you another suggests for solve the problem? Can we have other filter for the oil force system? Thank you.(antunes.luis@gmail.com / From Portugal)
