STD 390 bore is 4.050. H304P Pistons + .020 will be a 4.070 Bore. Just FYI.

Yep, that had me scratching my head too! I was thinking that the 390 block was actually a 352.

Hard block was used to fill the heat riser. It seems to hold up over the long term.

Nice job, but I could have done without all the zooming in and out. It made it hard to read all that you had to say.

I hear ya, I had to stop watching because of all the stopping and starting it made the video to long,

Why so much attention on an engine using old technology? Kind of reminds me of spending money and time on restoring an old steam tractor. 😢😢😢😢

A heads up on heads. lol I'm not seeing the Mustang GT head in any of these KZitem FE videos. There was another head and exhaust manifold made for the 67 and 68 Mustangs. They are easily identified by 3 exhaust bolts per cylinder. As I understand those heads from long ago they were low risers with a slightly different exhaust port for Mustang installation. I know they exist because I had a 67 and it had those heads on it. An article I read suggested those heads could flow slightly better on the exhaust side. I raced them and made good power with slight port clean up. Great build mate. I would second using restrictions, 0.010" to the rockers. And I went to a mechanical 427 cam so I could block off the lifter galleries. Those mods and the ones you did will keep the mains and rods in a 390.

Restrictors are a must for FE engines along with other mods to the oil system and I suggest a hardened aftermarket oil pump drive with a 2 gear pump . Just in case .The 390 Gt heads had small intake ports as compared to the CJ or Low Risers but the smaller CC chambers made good compression if used with non dished pistons . Back in the day we changed the exhaust , intakes , cams , adjustable rocker arms , carbs and a larger than stock camshaft making the 390 spring to life .Now you are in the ball park with the 396-375 Camaro's maybe a little faster .

I saw mention of longer connecting rods?? The rods i saw were C1AE A??? Are they 352 rods?? FE only has 2 different length rods. 390 & larger ci engines use the shorter, heavier rod. 360 & smaller use the long, lighter rod. If those were longer & C1AE they have to be 332/352 rods. Witch are not as strong. Interesting combo though.

Hey mate. Would love to know how you set the lifter pre load on the non adjustable rocker arms? I’m about the do the same soon….

I believe this mentioned two lengths of pushrod to adjust preload.

Those manifolds will not give you the optimum performance . I would use 428 CJ they are very free flowing if you don't choose headers . Where is your windage tray ? You can add an extra quart of oil without trouble because of that tray and keep oil off the crankshaft .Did you restrict oil to the rockers ?

Nice build! Personally I would have skipped the intake manifold end gaskets. A simple bead of caulk will last longer without ever leaking. Most gasket sets here don't even come wiht them anymore.
