Why did you keep the harmonic balance shaft?
@modularperformancesolution4631
5 жыл бұрын
The balance shaft quells vibration inherent with the V10 bank angle, this shouldn't be scrapped unless your going to a billett crank and something much better for harmonics on the damper side, it would then also be like a flat plane crank engine with an accepted amount of vibration, which in my mind is something you take as a trade off on a race car, not something you want to be reliable for thousands of miles, plus completely unnecessary for this projects goals.
@msengineeringdavid3702

ModularPerformanceSolutions you couldn’t be like a 180 degree flat plane it’s no the same level or characteristics for second order of vibration. But you internally balanced it it looks like that undone the balance shaft work done by oem. I would’ve gotten rid of it that’s just me.

What are the power limits of the block?
@darklordchris
5 жыл бұрын
Back in early 2000's there was a company that would build 400-700 blocks for you after you sent it in to them. If you told them you were going to run forced enduction they would set it up for you from 700-1000hp+ Everthing that needed to be forged they did, along with bigger injectors and high performance cams. I can't remember the site that did it. But they said since it's pretty much a 5.4 with extra cylenders, you could do the same set up. So 300hp to 1100hp + depending on money & time.

Block itself isn't necessarily a limit if I had to guess prob 1400+ would do on block. Crank and rotating assembly is the limiting factor. We can upgrade all that with relative ease. The crankshaft is a split pin design unique to the V10. It's probably good to 700-900hp if I had to guess it is forged, however the design makes it weaker, there are aftermarket options although very pricey!

I want a pre drive by wire, f250 or 350 srw eclb 4*4 with the 6.8 in near mint condition so bad. I love the 2v mod motors they were literally a peice of engineering excellence. Easy to work on cheap to service and if maintained where literally designed to be a 4-500k mile fleet motor and then swapped out. There design requirements called for a quarter million miles MINIMUM service life in commercial application use. Amd as any 2 valve owner knows, 225k is literally NOTHING to these motors. NOTHING. At 225k these motrs will still idle like a sewing machine, get 90% of original mpg, only burn about 1 quart of oil in 5000 miles, which btw is factory spec fpr many bramd new engines in 2022, and produce near factory power. They truly are excellent engines.
