To help a few fellow Jeepers on the “death wobble” issue discussed, when I bought mine used everything actually was upgraded and tight. I didn’t get serious death wobble but it was tracking poorly on the hwy/frwy, turned out mine needed a slight toe adjustment, I set it to about 1/4” out and it made a world of difference. So if you are actually tight check your toe, camber and caster. Go to a 4x4 shop to have it done right if you don’t have the ability yourself. Great vid btw, hurt feelings be dammed, we need unbiased real use info on all rigs, I’m so tired of biased arguments from others.

Thats more of a alignment issue then death wobble. Death wobble you wouldn't be able to drive. You literally have to come to a stop just to cancel the death wobble. , Death wobble is soo many factors that it makes it impossible to suggest fixing one thing. For new jeepers I would start like this, check track bar and make sure its tight/torqued, Check track bar holes/bushings. Then check ball joints, the most common ive seen is blown out ball joints. Its nothing for a jeep with bigger tires to destroy a set of ball joints in less then 15k miles. Check drag link , check tie rod as well. Check unit bearings ( Again ,bigger tires chew up unit bearings) Check tires, make sure they are properly balanced. Check alignment. Seems like a lot, but if you want to play with big heavy tires with aggressive offset wheels you need to maintain things more often. Unless you can afford the upgrades for those parts to last longer.

I totally agree with all the bad things about the Bronco. I hate the fact that there are no cupholders and no heat or air in the back seat. Huge let down. The overall lack of storage was something I noticed immediately especially after owning a Chevy High Country. Cab noise and shitty windshield was another thing. Windshield was split at 6000km and every little tiny rock leaves a huge chip. I thought the ride would be way more choppy but the Wildtrak I own rides better than the 4 Runner limited with the Bilstein ride height shocks. I still love the 4runner though. I totally agree with your assessment of the Bronco and Jeep. I chose the Bronco due to the smooth ride and the fact 95% of my driving is on pavement or gravel. I had the death wobble in my 2010 Power Wagon and it was pretty terrifying at 120 km/hr. Someone commented below that the Wildtrak has rear vents they barely blow and air and it gets super cold up here in Canada. If you plan on having passengers in the rear seats in the winter get a 12 volt heated blanket.

Death Wobble is caused ONLY by INCORRECT CASTOR. Even with 100% new and tight front suspension if your castor is a few degre's forward it will wobble and shake till you stop. Take and bring your castor back ie lower you pinion angle to between 4-6 degre's . Wobble GONE, I have a 05 TJ that i chased one thing after another , after adding a spacer lift and could not get it to stop unless the tires were PERFECTLY balanced , but even then , hit a pot hole or hard bump off it would go. I broke down and got some upper and lower ADJUSTABLE arms , the bottoms i set at recomended factory length but the tops i lengthened them till the pinion angle moved down by 2 deg. This STOPPED the BUMP STEER IMEDIATLY . SHOOK VILENTLY 1HR BEFORE , has NEVER AGAIN in over 3 years and a set of new tires. Jeep castor in factory setting is just too close to the line for bump steer . Add just a bit of lift without lengthing the upper link bars and disaster is waiting for you. TELL EVERYONE YOU KNOW with this problem , spend a few hundred bucks on some adjustable upper 4 link bars and lower pinion angle, YOUR DEATH WOBBLE WILL DISAPEAR CHEERS AND SAFE TRAVELS Steve h.

And i drive it slow on the freeway but I get have averaged 24.5 mpg over the 5k miles I've put on it. I bet for 95% of the people who offroad the bronco would do everything asked of it. They were basing their comparision mostly on thier stock JL. Please take some time and go watch thier old videos of the stock "Stepchild" doing things the bronco "can" do. But also understanding with the bronco you have a big worry factor that the bronco "may" break. And its not a biased review if its true. 1. The stock IFS And stearing components on the bronco are weaker in comparison to the stock solid axel of the wrangler. (even though the Jeep has the week axle disco point) 2. The stock ride of the Wrangler is shit compaired to the stock ride of the Bronco. 3. Ford IS having problems with the bronco tops. 4. Jeep has had problems for years with reliability, and yet people ignore and buy them anyway. 5. Bronco has been having problems with certain engines failing with low mileage 6. The JL/JT aluminum is having corrosion ploblems. The list goes on and on. There are always going to be problems with a FIRST gen vehical, and being a modern vehical will probably contiue to have problems just like most new cars including Jeep. Your feelings should never be involved with a major purchase When it comes to these two vehicals. They are very expensive and can cost more than "Alot" of peoples annual income. But people want to go have fun, and make a decision to buy these vehicals for that purpose alone. Becasue we all know we don't NEED either of these to get back and forth to work, store, exc

Once I do that I have to take over the shifting. Fit and finish I think is based around that soccer mom/ mall crawler market, doesn't need to be practical just pretty. So we know that in LiteBrite's earlier video (Jan 2022) on stock Bronco and stock Wrangler, the Bronco did 100% of everything the Jeep JL Rubicon did which was moderate difficulty at Sand Hollow with Trail Ratings of 8. This is probably as difficult a trail that 99% of off-roaders will never even do! This comparison video is from the perspective of extreme rock-crawlers where IFS will not perform as well on constantly climbing rocks taller than bumper height. Yes we know that IFS can't articulate as well as solid front axle but many offroaders will never see that situation so I feel this video is for the individual who will rock-crawl with a rig that has 20k+ of suspension upgrades. Bronco has much more practical use that 99.9% of people need.

We actually agree that the Bronco will be capable of meeting the needs of 99% of owners off road. Extremely few owners, of either a Bronco or a Jeep, will ever find the limitations of their vehicle. However, the difficulty level of a trail is subjective. To us, the trail we did with the Jeep/Bronco in the video you mentioned is not a difficult trail (although to most people it probably would be considered extreme). However, we did reinforce the Bronco tie rods prior to attempting it. The factory ones otherwise would not have survived the drop into that bowl.

No bias here at all lol... this entire video wreaks of Jeep bias; we get it your base was built on Jeeps and you have to save face with those people that pay the bills just be honest. Having owned a Jeep on 37's with a rock krawler mid arm suspension system. I just have to shake my head at the comparisons to a 120k built up Rig. The quality issues are no more or less then the issues Jeep has been trying to fix for over 40 years. Plastic interiors in both, my JKU had all kinds of fitment issues, top issues, death wobble, busted seals on the dana 44's, constant issues with the anti-theft system if the doors weren't shut just right. I could go on for the most part the biggest issue I've seen on the Bronc. There are similar body panel fitment issues, some very isolated engine issues with the 2.7l because of faulty lifters from a 3rd party supplier. The hard top was a complete debacle because of Webasto, but again my JKU had hard top issues delamination and chipping issues. The tie rods are a well-known issue, but already have a new upgraded factory variant as part of the HOSS 3.0 system that also upgrades other steering parts. The cup holders depending on the trim is a whatever, I haven't had a car/truck in the last 40 years that I didn't have to modify to make my own. The AC while they have floor vents 100% should have been something flowing through the center console especially on an off-road vehicle where the top will be off on very hot days. I'm just having a hard time taking this objectively serious as someone who has been around the off roading community for many years. The Bronco in stock or upgraded form can do 99% of what the Jeep can up to the most hard-core rock crawling which maybe .01% of owners will ever do. As to all the quality issues, do we really want to go there when the Jeep has been plagued with them even in its 4th Generation. We have a JT in the family that has all kinds of issues with the transmission that's a well-known issues on the forums for that model. The Dealer has reflashed it more than once to try and fix the shifting issues. Would you really trust a Jeep that cant' shift over any other vehicle? All things being equal anything at any time can break, and there are numerous groups putting Broncos through there paces with zero issue.

The "death wobble" is a side effect of the recirculating ball stearing box. The same type of stearing box that all vehicles had for a long time, and all over the road trucks still have. By design there is some play when stationary due to the clearance needed in the balls. Worn suspension parts emphasis this play and can allow for oscilating movement even if the driver isn't trying to turn the wheel, particularly if you let things go too far. With a rack and pinion steering the driver is faster to notice this wear and the lack of play in the system prevents it from oscilating back and forth like a recirculating ball steering gear.

I fit in the crowd of go fast off road and I just never felt I could safely in the jeep. I swapped out so many times on minor crap on Power line roads it was not funny. Plus, while I think the lack of rear cupholders is ridiculous, it's an easy 10 minute fix with aftermarket options. The IAG one looks like a great option and an easy install. The AC problem, however, is not an easy fix. People say Ford must have forgotten the rear AC, but that seems like a huge oversight I just can't believe their engineers would miss. They chose not to include it, but I'd sure like to hear from them why. Bronco all the way, since it does everything off-road in Moab for me I would ever try to do in a vehicle this expensive, and it's miles ahead of the Wrangler on-road. Btw, I'm a HUGE Mopar guy, and I'm definitely a Jeep fan. Jeep fanboys don't want to fathom this, and Bronco sales will probably be the decisive factor, but no one should be shocked when the next generation of Wrangler has IFS.

@@LiteBrite This is purely subjective imo. I personally think the interior "style" on the Jeeps is nicer, with a few exceptions, but I wouldn't suggest that the general "quality" of the interior is much better than the Bronco. On the contrary I actually like the overall layout of the Bronco more than a Jeep, I also feel the Bronco is a LOT more comfortable. Granted, there are some 1st/2nd year gremlins on the bronco (rattles, etc) that I am sure will get resolved eventually, and Jeep has had a bit more time to resolve those little things right out of the gate. However, every jeep I have ever owned or been in, that was more than a couple years old had all of the same types of long-term quality issues. In the end, we accept those things because of what the vehicle is capable of doing otherwise, but if we were making the decision based on interior fit and finish alone, there are better options than both, that are almost as capable, if not just as capable with a few modifications. Within reason of course, as if you're building a dedicated super hard-core rock crawling rig, Jeep is still your only option for the most part, but in those cases you've probably already ripped out or destroyed most of your interior anyway lol! We’ve done thousands of miles off road in Baja and on the socal trail system with no issues. We recently took a group of 15 broncos down to Baja, and 0 issues on the gen6 platform. The tie rod issues are blown out of proportion by people who drive IFS like a rigid axel, don’t respect the geometry of the suspension when lifting them, and sell solutions to fix the “problem”. Yeah, someone else mentioned that their leather option came with center fold down cup holders. But for a $65K vehicle, it just seems like back seat cupholders should exist. 😅 Outside of that, you’re correct. The definition of “trail difficulty” is subjective. What we consider to be easy or moderate, are usually trails 99% of people would never attempt (even in their Jeep). Most people aren’t used to or willing to actually find the limits of their off road vehicles like we are. For rock crawling, an IFS rig will never out perform a comparable solid axle rig. But for baja style off roading, a solid axle will never out perform a comparable IFS vehicle. Can an IFS rock crawl, and can a solid axle baja? Of course. But they’ll experience a failure before the one that’s in its element.

Putting a Bronco 1 step above a Subaru Outback? Really? You can put 37's on a Bronco with a very simple and affordable lift, and do some crazy, CRAZY stuff. Are you going to do 9 and 10 level trails, NO, but you're not doing those trails with any true daily driver. Put a Bronco + $10k in upgrades against a Rubi with $10k in upgrades, the Bronco does 95% of what the Rubi does (rock crawling) but the Rubi only does 25% of what the Bronco does (baja) (and the outback does 0.2% of any of it). Stock vs stock they're super even and really getting down to it a Jeep didn't even have a stock option for 35s until after the Bronco came out. I guess the real question is how much did you get paid to say that (or how many views did you figure that statement would generate)? MoneyGrab, 100%. She may as well be in a bikini or lingerie in every video if all you want is views.
@LiteBrite

It’s very clear from your comment that you have a very, very different definition of “crazy” than we do when it comes to off roading. We have, and still do, level 9 & 10 trails and obstacles in our daily driven Jeep. We lived out of that Jeep for three years, wheeling it across some of the most difficult Jeep trails across the country, and then right back onto the pavement to take us to the next challenging trails. There are hundreds of videos to prove the beatings we put or daily driven Jeep through. You give us a Jeep with $10K in upgrades & and Bronco with $10K in upgrades, and we will be able to take the Jeep leaps and bounds farther in the rocks than the Bronco. Just like we would be able to take the Bronco leaps and bounds further in the desert than the Jeep. Bone stock, they are far from even. They both excel in completely different aspects. And they both suck in others. All because YOU do not have the experience or skill to find the limits of these vehicles off pavement does not mean those limits suddenly fall shorter than they actually do in reality. Your feelings also don’t change fact. An IFS vehicle will never keep up with a comparable SFA in the rocks, and an SFA will never keep up with a comparable IFS in the desert or on pavement. And your hurt feelings also don’t change the fact that we did not get paid, by anyone, to be honest about our opinions on where both the Bronco & the Jeep are severely lacking. Or the fact that all of this would still be equally true whether I was fully nude or wearing a full fledged burka...no matter how much you think otherwise. 🤙

Stock for stock I'll take the Bronco everyday, if you do a minor lift and bigger tires I'll still take the Bronco every day (with supporting steering mods from Bronc Buster). If you're modifying your rig to the point of almost being a buggy, well then I don't think you can realistically even do that with a Bronco the way you can with a Jeep. I still think the biggest weaknesses of the factory Wrangler are: axles with anything bigger than factory tires, tie rod ends, and electronics, otherwise the Jeep can be had for way less than MSRP and obviously is the better rock crawler. So apples to apples stock vs stock, perhaps excluding the electronic transfer case on the Bronco - the Bronco is tried and proven to be more reliable then a Wrangler. Which is understandable, because most people aren’t willing or can’t afford to push the limits of their vehicle like we have done & still do. What a lot of people consider to be “hard” trails is subjective. An easier way of saying this is - If the same person drove each vehicle back to back on let’s say a 7 or 8 rated trail, over and over and over again, the Bronco is likely to begin showing its weak points much sooner than the Wrangler would. But the Toyota community gets so uptight, the jeep has better approach, departure, breakover angle, better total final drive gear reduction by a long shot, better articulation, flat body panels that wont get smashed as easy, and yes THE MECHANICAL Tcase shif linkage. 4low in a taco depends on the damn alignment of the planets.... The Toyota is so much more comfy and the jeep is sooo much better off road. But few people push a Rubicon to the point where they actually can appreciate the capability... and my jk has bias plys and beadlocks so... there's that...

The sentence “So few people push a Rubicon to the point where they actually can appreciate the capability…” is the most underrated (and arguably the most important) point of all of this. Most of the people mad at us for stating a fact (that SFA performs better in the rocks than IFS, and IFS performs better on road and high speed off road than SFA) has never pushed their vehicle beyond their comfort zone to actually see what it’s capable of. Which is totally fine, but you can’t change a fact because you haven’t learned otherwise through experience.

i'm on my 3rd jeep, absolutely HATE HATE HATE the seats in it. the JL seats just flat out blow... and each jeep has had death wobble. The JL got it at 12,500 miles. I want to legit try the bronco (still don't have a VIN), and see if it will fill my needs for offroading. I'll do the harder stuff, but I just like to explore. If the bronco ends up pissing me off i'll go back to a wrangler and change the seats if needed. I just need ford to give me a VIN haha. The wait for this thing has been asinine as I refuse to pay one penny over MSRP. Even at that MSRP is dumb cause I usually get them close to dealer invoice.

Older broncos with straight axles have death wobble problems too...

It’s a solid axle thing. ☹️

@@LiteBrite I think 2 Factors have to be part of the design to have death wobble... Straight axle and coil springs.... Seems like if you eliminate one or the other, the chance of death wobble is greatly diminished .... With Chrysler stuff, it's crappy ball joints and thin track bar brackets.... With the Older Full Sized Broncos, it was the work out C bushings... Not so much anything else.... At my work we have ford F550 4x4's with service beds on them... They are always in the shop for death wobble.... They have coil front springs... The older F650s with front leaf springs have never been in the shop for death wobble.... I think there's too many connection points with coil springs, allowing tiny bits of movement along with the jouncing of coils that amplify the movement the further out the suspension parts are from the connection point..

I love my JL, it truly is the best iteration so far. I've never had an ongoing issue with death wobble. There were some growing pains after installing the lift and 37's. but got it sorted out and its been my daily driver, I bought it new in March 2018. I've put almost 130,000kms on it, roughly 80,000 miles. I've had zero problems, other than the factory recalls, and it still has the original windshield. No cracks. As for the Bronco, I have no interest in it. I don't like the look, its bigger and heavier than the Wrangler. Ford let a lot of things slide and pretty much ignored quality control with the fit and finish. I also don't like the engine choices and I hate the electronic transfer case. Don't get me wrong, I like Ford, I've owned Fords, but tell me Ford didn't push the Bronco out before it was ready. At least, thats the way it looks to me. Great info. Your thoughts and opinions are cool to listen to. Oh, and I still get better than 21MPG on the highway.

Same. Ive had 2 TJ's and 2 JK's, both new when they were out. I loved my TJ's, hated my 3.8 JKR, and wasnt too thrilled with my 3.6 JKS. Now my JL? I've had her 2 years so far and absolutely love it. Mine has 37's as well and factory windshield still.... knock on wood....

Any issues with your JL regarding paint bubbling/corrosion around your door hinges or hood hinges? Bubbles in your paint anywhere?
