Though of owner of a MK2 Cmax , this was very informative as one small missing piece/part can hugely make that difference! Thanks bud

Thanks for this, very useful!. I'm a sucker for punishment. In the last few years I've ended up with an 06 (mine) and an '08 (wife's) C-Max. I'm in my seventies and tall and they are great to get in and out of; very comfortable and nice to drive although needing a higher 5th motorway gear IMHO! My only other criticism is the poor steering lock with large minimum turning circle. The other hassle is the leaking and the consequent need to frequently remove the morning condensation from the windows with my Karcher sucker. This , it transpires, is related to these blasted leaks. I only had it on my 06 but this winter the 08 has started to fill the wheel well too. I 'fixed' the 06 a couple of years ago by removing the tail lights and doing a few things as described plus the larger soft foam gasket but I clearly need to redo them. I think that it also leaked via the tailgate hinge as mentioned. Now the 08 has just started with the same problem. I was just swearing and chatting to the wife about this (and the irritating work involved) when it suddenly occurred to me that in my longish life, and often running and maintaining 2 old cars, I have NEVER really had any of them leaking water into the interior to any degree. I think that this must be poor design on the C-Max, coupled with poor quality control and cost saving, somehow. Maybe it's the robots which run sealant inaccurately into the seams or poor choice of sealant which won't last the distance as it hardens off. This is an EXTREMELY annoying problem as it's more work than you think to clear out the boot and wheel well of everything.... no fun in winter!! Remove the awkward tail light mounting system. then prepare gaskets and sealant; just hoping that the next time it rains you won't find the same happening. As an aside, I noted with interest, that our boot's appear to be the country's main depository of shopping bags...in case you're wondering where they're all ending up!! :) NoAxe

Hi sam, sorry for the very very late reply. I cut my own washers from an old sheet of rubber. I hope you have fixed yours by the time I replied!
