These guys have made the "Start where ever you're at" comment before. I had a 1/2 ton truck...so we found a trailer that it could tow (Coleman 2515RL). We upgraded to airbags on the truck...better tires, better shocks and struts...and better breaks. Then took that brand new trailer across the country (Vancouver, WA to Cape May, NJ via Texas). 8,540 miles total...no trouble. Just get what works and do it!

So aren’t you going to go over on your payload with all that extra weight of gas and all those liquids and gen in your truck bed? I thought your payload was 2200? Or how much did you gain with the airbags? It’s my understanding that not much is gained?
@FordF-Super
4 жыл бұрын
Stream Rolling pay load is payload, it doesn’t change, it’s fixed from the factory, the only way to add payload capacity to this particular truck is to...upgrade the rear axle, weld in 2 more crossmembers and add one regular leaf and an overload. Now you can do what I said minus the crossmembers, axles, and YES, it won’t sag as much, but that’s a misconception to you thinking you added payload, if you don’t strengthen the chassis and axles, it’s just adding accelerated wear and tear, my truck, same as his but an XLT had a payload of 2480, when I upgraded to the max tow, it added what I mentioned above, my payload went up to 3490, SRW F250 with the 6.7. Without the max payload package a Lariat has a payload of 2177, or atleast the one I looked at, these trucks are great, but if you don’t know what your doing, you will think since it’s a HD truck I can pull anything, nope, not safely. And if you did all I mentioned, then you have to get your payload recertification from the DOT and email that information to Ford. After that you get your new payload sticker to put in place of your old one. Airbags are great and have their place.

@FordF-Super
4 жыл бұрын
TimothyVincent StBarts I did a lot of research before ordering mine, that 60 gallon tank itself weighs in around 55 lbs, add 60 gallons of diesel, that alone is 535lbs, bed cover around 45, rug 10, bed slide, idk atleast 75, it’s a safe bet he added 700 minus the regular tank full of fuel, 400lbs, tongue weighs on that airstream has to be around 850-1000 loaded, always go to the heavy side to be safe, 1000+400+500 for gear+400people, he is pushing it, sure the truck can handle it and they will be fine, the DOT and Insurance company will go by the payload sticker if there is ever an accident, I CAT Scale at 1100 on the hitch loaded, and GCVWR is on the scale is 15,327 loaded, full fuel, and black, grey and drinking water full. I’m not bashing on the dude, he seems really cool and takes care of his family it seems, just wanted to point out by adding air bags you do not add capacity, I added bags to mine for only one reason, with the Hensley Hitch and air bags, I have absolutely zero proposing, it toes like a dream,

Ford F-250 6.7 Super Thank you for clearing up my question on the airbag addition. I use mine just for leveling up if needed. I have ranch hand front and rear bumpers taking a lot of my payload so I’m thinking of removing both and going back to stock. And by the way the tongue weight on a 30ft bunk house AS is about 654# but you’re right closer to 1000#’s. I also carry 2-90# Kayaks and about 75# worth of Thule loading bars on my roof if my truck. The Cummins is more fuel efficient and they can come with air bag suspension with self leveling factory (full warranty), and the far superior interior is a nice bonus. Not to mention Ram uses suspension SPRINGS and Ford STILL uses leaf springs (Really Ford? You have been using leaf springs for over 100 years... its 2020!) Im just sayin... Separate subject--I am surprised (based on what you know about payload) that you didn't spring for the (relatively) small difference in price to get the F-350 SRW. My biggest frustration throughout was RV build quality. The flat roof in the Jayco phoned water and they did nothing. The Carriage is junk. Cushman and Emahiser drove it into the ground with warranty claims. Cost me $6k to fix slide roof because Carriage didn’t install the roof windows according to specs. We got an inflatable mattress that fits the bed and during the last solar eclipse the wife, daughter, and I camped at her mothers in the back of the truck. All hotels for 100 miles were booked and her mothers didn't have any extra rooms. To me it beats a tent. I have no need to put oversize items in the bed because I have trailers for that.

Torn between f150 vs f250. All purpose, overlanding. You have had both. I will buy used. 2006 to 2010. Your thoughts would be much appreciative.

Trying to get that Stage3 promo code to work / apply. Not working. KYD is the coupon code correct? Wanting to order up that same air package you installed for my 2020 F250. Or does the “KYD Complete Air System” already have a discounted price on it?

Get an 2017+ F350 crew long bed and it comes factory with a 48 gal fuel tank. These clowns are just throwing money at unnecessary "stuff"

I have the same bedslide on my F250 and love it!...I wasn't a complete believer in those anchors that came in the slide kit...so here's a Pro tip...there is a slot up under the bed that lines up with the center cross bar of the slide frame. I was able to secure a 4 ft piece of aluminum angle iron underneath the bed and bolt it directly to that center cross bar (fasteners need to be similar metals). It's now "super" strong and would probably hold much more than 1K lbs fully extended (although I don't/haven't tested that theory).

What gear ratio would you recommend for F-250 with 6.2L 4x2 and we live out in Florida and we travel to Ga., TN.. Options given are 3.31, 3.55 or 3.73

Since you went to a Airstream was there a reason you went to a f250 diesel vs the new 7.3 gas and save the ~$9k and gain a lot more cargo capacity? Your cargo capacity is about the same as F150. I have an F150 & tow a 7400# tt with no issue. I am considering the F250 with the 7.3 gas or maybe the F350 with the diesel if we decide to go to a large 5th wheel..

I just bought an F250. Why wouldn't you remove the center headrest in the back seat for better visibility? I removed mine on my former F150 that had the sliding window.

Why wouldn't you buy an F350? The price difference is minimal and as often as you guys change rigs, you would have more options without having to buy another truck! Cheers!

So with the gas tank… So you had to update your on board computer for the new gas tank? I want to get the bigger tank for my Tundra but didn’t know a quality company and what happens with the fuel gauge.

The backflips dont last very long if your opening it up everyday. Mine lasted about a year before i was putting rivets in joints to keep them together. And another 6 months before i threw it away.

Always luv watching your videos!! We just bought a Jayco 30Ft pull trailer, plans were to head across Canada, from Alberta to the east coast then down into the US across to AZ for 3 months! Now that the virus is here our plans have changed, we are not even sure that we'll be able to get into the US by Nov! Staying flexible, Plan B!! Keep us up to date!! Luv you guys!!

My experience with an F-150 and a fifth wheel is that airbags solve SERIOUS bounce... not payload.

So you have an FX4 truck and every airbag set up from air lift specifically stated not to be used in FX4 optioned trucks... My question is how did you get them to work...? Did you use a spacer or stretch the bags a little bit...?

We just purchased a brand new rig yesterday. I still have the option of adding gap insurance and/or a service deal to our financing. What are you thoughts on those. The gap insurance is good for 7 years and the service contract is for 5 years. Gap insurance is an extra $10 a month and service is an extra $24 a month. Do you think its worth it or is there something else you would recommend? Anyone knowledgeable in these please feel free to comment. We have until delivery next Friday to decide. Thank you!

I’ve got a 2020 Chevy 2500 with the 6.5 ft bed. I’ve added the backflip however it covers my camera. Is this a Chevy problem or did I order or do something wrong?

So we have a f250 and are wanting to buy a 16k fifth wheel. When dropped the 5th wheel on the hitch there is not much clearance and worried that if we hit a bump it will break the axel. Do you have any recommendations to help with the rear suspension. Air? Add a spring? Spacers?
