There are various videos out there regarding this common Ford Focus bonnet latch problem but this one may provide a simpler, less destructive and cheaper fix.
The plastic connector used here was cheap (around $14 AUD) but certainly felt a bit flimsy. Using it did have the advantage of retaining use of the car ignition key to open the bonnet. If I was doing the job again I would go with the more substantial looking latch repair kit with one-piece barrel/connector and keys (around $25 AUD on eBay). The genuine Ford part may be even more reliable long-term but is not doubt substantially more expensive.

This has happened to my 2010 focus I ordered a replacement connection arm and key barrel which came with 2 keys from amazon. I just lifted the plastic grill then brutally pulled out the old cable with moulgrips then used a screw driver to open the bonnet . I believe in most cases its the cable from the key barrel that weakens with stress over time not the bonnet lach itself.
