The 1.6l ecoboost has now been pulled from production and made many "worst engines" lists like this one www.wheels.ca/top-ten/seven-engines-to-avoid-like-the-plague/ I guess i was one of the lucky ones that didnt catch fire.

damn 6 windshields!!!! I've recently replaced my first one... my deductible is $500 so I had to pay out of pocket and that cost me just over $330! I've personally driven about 12k miles in the 6 months I've owned it. This past month I've been driving a lot less. About to hit 63k miles on mine and the only repairs I've done was the Evap purge valve then I just changed the oil which is regular maintenance and upgraded the spark plugs to NKG ones. I've watched basically all your videos on the Focus ST and I just want to thank you for the fantastic information! I have looked at literally every performance car I can afford, Audi S3, Golf R, WRX STi, etc. I live in Colorado so I really wanted AWD but everything outside of the Focus RS is missing the fun factor, and the RS is a bit spendy and a bit rough on our roads. I keep coming back to an ST3 as the perfect balance of luxury features I care about while also being cheap enough and practical enough that I don't gag at the thought of buying one and driving it every day. I guess we'll see! It turns out ST3s are actually kind of hard to find.

Hey gjeebs. Been a fan for a while now and the first and one of the best upgrades I’ve done for my 2016 st was Apple car play. If you have an iPhone I highly recommend this, especially since new car play features have been added in an update back in September I believe that are great. You can purchase the 2017 module from amazon and directly replace it with yours. I would definitely look into it, totally transforms the infotainment system. The last of the Focus STs in North America, so I jumped back on for 5 more years in the final model year! Maintenance in 5 years: 12 oil changes, 3 recalls (wiring harness, rear mm, door locks), one warranty repair (leaking boot), 2 sets of summer tires and 1 set of winter wheels and tires. Maintenance so far in 1+ years 2018 ST: 3 oil changes Here's to 4 more years of Focus ST...I still smile when I merge onto the freeway holding 4th gear and a nice person moves over to the next lane to let me in, how nice of you, but not necessary...pshhhhhhhh

For one Snowflake they quoted me $1, 070.15 for one flipping wheel. I ordered an aftermarket wheel for $269.00 online and had it in two days on free shipping and paid $250 for five year unlimited alignments and mounting the new tire. Obviously there are exceptions, but even living out in the country I don't do more than 15k that isn't work related. So yeah, 20k is kind of a lot for most people. Planning on keeping it stock for a while but an exhaust is probably the first mod to come. Can’t decide between ford performance exhaust and borla. If you’re interested at all in buying a focus ST, just binge watch ALL of gjeebs videos and you’ll have one in your driveway within a month :)

Personally I almost like chips and stuff like that in the front end because it shows that you've used the car, shows you've given it a proper rodeo and loved it. That is, if you plan on keeping it which considering these cars are probably not gonna ever become collector's items or anything like that, I'm gonna drive mine into the dirt and rust. They are like battlescars to me when I remember taking it out onto a gravel pathway and drifting around dirt corners rocks flying and all. If you don't plan on keeping it, just do all those repairs once you feel youre ready to part with the car, although I dont know how you could ever do that.

So pleased you kept this Car after buying your BMW. You obviously really like the car still. I have the 2013 St 3 , I’ve just fitted mountune short shifter And uprated engine mount, what a difference it’s made to the car, it’s brilliant. Next for me, Mountune induction kit 🤙

Evap purge valve has a recall btw. That might've been your code. You need to get it checked because it can create a vacuum in your gas tank, reducing performance or in extreme cases crack your tank. 100% free replacement.

Regarding the headlights, yes the ST2 and ST3 packages have the upgraded headlights while the ST1 does not. When I bought my ST2 I test drove an ST1, ST2 and an ST3.

@@warmpankake962 perfect actually. Only issue i’ve had is the shutters motor in front the radiator that closes and opens depending on whether the car is moving or not went out so they stayed closed & that made it drive weird when i was driving for 30+ mins but i just took it out since it wasn’t necessary and it’s been running fine ever since. Most reliable car i’ve ever owned. Operates well in the summer when it reaches up to 115 degrees and drives really well in the wintertime which only ever gets to 35 degrees if im lucky.

Im in Michigan and the roads are terrible. I never realized just how bad it really was until i was in atlanta Georgia a few years back. I was almost in awe at how perfectly smooth and in mint condition the roads were. Nothing like that exists here. A newly paved road will become uneven and start cracking very quickly with our winters. On some roads potholes are so bad that not seeing one and hitting it could end up with a bent rim, popped tire, etc. I swear to god i hit a pothole so hard in my 2010 ford ranger last year the ENTIRE RADIO came out from the center console and hung by wires. Makes me worry about my st.. not to mention all the salt rn. I just got my st washed yesterday and its covered in salt again :( on a good note, i am now running stage 3 on e30 custom tuned by jst! Its soo much quicker and much more fun on the e30!

I'm in Canada so the price may be different but, what do you guys think of this ST that I am thinking of buying. 1 owner, non smoker, no accidents certified by ford, so it comes with 1 year warranty remaining and 1 year after that extended warranty. $17,238, 2017, 26,000m. Here is the link. Feed back please. www.autotrader.ca/a/ford/focus/bathurst/new%20brunswick/5_47287552_20170512151346189/?showcpo=ShowCpo&ncse=no&orup=2_4_4&pc=E1A%207L2&sprx=250

I've had my 2013 st2 since 2014 and I love it. Never had problems and I have 46,000 miles on the car. I have only had my wiring harness redone for free and I'm about to get the purge valve replaced for free. Other than that, just oil changes and rear brake pads and maintenance stuff. Be nice to the turbocharger when it's cold and you wont have problems.

Now it's got an Aftermarket intercooler, Turbosmart BoV, CPE catback exhaust, and tons of other goodies as well as some custom DIY stuff. I've always wanted a Focus ST. Unfortunately, I ended up going with my Civic Type R over the Focus ST I found for no other reason than the fact there are so many "rules" to driving a ST. I'll always love these cars (and every other hatchback), but man, I refuse to deal with the headaches of a direct injection motor.

Go with Ford OEM oil, in my experience its outstanding to other aftermarket brands. Other great products are AMSOIL, MOBILE1, VALVOLINE and yes they are all Syn. I change mine every 5K and always done by Ford itself.

I have the 2016 Focus ST in Oxford White, and have had it brand new since my 16th birthday. I barely used it until I turned 18 (by barely used, I literally mean that I probably drove it 3-4 times a month for the first two years) and started college. It’s been in perfect condition as I’ve been taking good care of it myself, hand washing it, and doing a bit of maintenance here and there on my own. Aside from the scuffs under my front bumper and a scratch from being rear-ended by a Rubicon JEEP (it was repaired immediately), it was essentially good as new. I just moved out to Southern California for my BA two months ago, and I’ve been commuting to the university daily which has resulted in me having to deal with the terrible SoCal traffic, trash infrastructure, and even worse drivers (lol). This sudden lifestyle change for both me and my car has led to a few nicks on the windshield because of the freeways/highways, but other than that everything is just fine. HOWEVER, there’s a lot of broke college kids on my campus, so I just got my rear passenger reflector stolen a few days ago :( I ordered the new part online and plan on replacing it myself because I’d rather not deal with the cost of repairs through other means and I’d rather not have the dudes at the mechanic shop try to dupe me with the false notion that a teenaged girl can’t possibly know a thing about her own car Lol. TLDR; I love my car, take pride in it, and am more than happy with my choice of first car. :)
