The Ford Fairmont -- a Ford Falcon for the 1980s. These were good solid economy cars with few problems.

I had an 81 Fairmont, loved that car, but alas, had to give her up CUZ she was getting expensive and with three young kids, my choice wasn't hard to make. Still miss it though.

That's impressive. I was a newborn that year! For some reason the 81-82 generation seems less common than the older ones. The last time I've ever spotted a Granada of that generation in person was probably in 2005. I've also seen the wagon version in 2001. Both were on the road. I believe I saw a Cougar from the early 80's in the late 00's. Seemed like it was in decent shape enough to be still on the road. Our family car was a Granada, purchased used in 1989 and was already rusted on the underside. By the time it was scrapped in 1999, my dad had to weld plates on the frame because it was cracked on the multiple places because of severe rust. It was getting unsafe to drive. Winters are pretty hard on cars here because of road salt.

My uncle had one when I was a kid, probably late 80s. I always thought it was odd that the horn "button" was next to the turn signal stalk, not the actual middle of the steering wheel. What a dumb design.

Its a shame it ended up like this. That car is easy to get back on the road and would probably look good. I wonder once Im gone, if my cars will end up this way too. Its probably why Ill start giving em away

Looks like what a late 70s thunderbird and a early 80s foxbody mustang would look like if they had a baby 😂

Yes, that is correct, this is a Fox platform. Same basic heap, different name. No, that's Ford's way of telling you that you were too cheap to order the gauge package. Possible code 6R Cream exterior paint. No VIN, can't win, no tag, can't brag. This would be the 3.3L (200 CID) straight six. It is a reliable engine, but saddled with poor fuel control, emission control, sloppy ignition and other engine controls. That was the downfall of Ford in these years.
