What a pain... but after 23 years of faithful service, I'll have to tackle it... thanks for the guidance!

Thanks for this! I'm still nursing along a 96 ranger with the 3.0 and 220k miles. The 90° fitting just to the right of the one you are replacing is leaking. Can it be removed by the same procedure?

I don't have one in front of me today so I can't say for sure, but it looks like you should be able to. I would replace both while you're at it.

So the fitting to the right of the one you're replacing is a 90 degree fitting with only a threaded male end and a hose connection on the other. Can the same part be used and just plug the opening on the bottom of the fitting??

Not sure about that. But the correct part for that one should be available a few places online. Double check the fitment for the specific year truck you're working on, but I believe the part number is N808344S101.

My husband loosened up all as mentioned and it does not move. Any suggestions please. Thanks!

Might be one extra bolt holding it somewhere. I would look over the whole thing with a mirror and flashlight. If he doesn't find anything, it might be locked together by corrosion; aluminum doesn't rust, but it does still oxidize and corrode somewhat, and the bracket could be seized to the engine by that. If that seems to be the case, I would start tapping the bracket with a mallet or brass hammer and see if it breaks free. (Of course proceed at your own risk, I'm not liable if you break anything, blah blah blah.) Hope that helps.

Sorry, I don't. I know those are tricky to get to, I think I had to feel around for them moreso than actually looking at them.

Most catalogs categorize it as a heater hose connector/tee. Dorman part number is 47993
