The haulage company I worked for in Manchester had a fleet of Thames Traders which performed extremely well,we had the first D800 in Manchester and had others on order, the engine on that truck lasted about 8weeks before it seized up in Leicestershire and Fords couldn’t supply a new engine for it so it was towed back to Manchester for repair,I stripped the engine to find it had seized on 5 and 6 cylinders pulling the liners down, those vehicles were Nothing but trouble right from the start with engine troubles. The firm give up on them and ordered Seddons instead and had no problems. All that bullshit in the adverts was rubbish, the best part of those trucks was the cabs they were outstanding but the rest was crap,it’s no wonder Ford give up the truck business.
